Cascade

by JanetLC

I read somewhere that there is a place called Cascade near Pikes Peak that has many waterfalls. Does anyone know where this is? I also read that Cheyenne Park has falls called Silver Cascade Falls. Is this the same place?

There is a place called Seven Falls actually in the city of Colorado Springs. I've been here twice, once as a 9 year old and then again about 30 years ago. I remember seeing it as night when it is lit up was better then the day. Website is http://www.sevenfalls.com/home/index.cfm

Another nice little falls is Helen Hunt Falls, which is free to see. Seven Falls is great, especially if you can do it at dusk but go early enough that you have time to take the trail at the top of the falls. Beautiful falls.

Travel Tips for Colorado Springs

US Air Force Academy

by goingsolo

Located just outside of town, the air force academy has exhibits on aviation and the air force program. There is also a tour of the Cadet Chapel. The grounds are huge and there are several hiking trails that begin just south of the entrance to the academy.

Lt. Zebulon Montgomery Pike sculpture

by OlenaKyiv

Across S. Tejon Street from Pioneers Museum there is a sculpture of Lt. Zebulon Montgomery Pike, who saw Pikes Peak and unsuccessfully climbed it. When Pike and his three friends failed to climb to the peak, he cold it “Grand Peak”, which eventually was named by Pike’s name.

Skiing Monarch Mountain

by leafmcgowan

Monarch Mountain, Colorado
A beautiful powder mountain great for a Colorado hide-a-way from the crowded resorts. This mountain rocks. Plus its one of the more affordable mountains in Colorado. With typical Colorado rates at $70-100/ticket at places like Aspen and Vail, you can get tickets from $27-49 at Monarch. It's where the locals ski. Great trails, great slopes, and good service. Highly recommended. Rating: 4 stars out of 5.

Waldo Canyon

by John195123

A non-descript parking lot opens onto a trail leading to silence. Silence filled not with engine noise and pollutants, but a silence, truly without sound. This is Waldo Canyon, one of the best hiking trails in Colorado Springs. Except for gunshots eminating from a local shooting range (well out of range of the trail), there is no sound but footsteps. I decided to bike this trail, which makes it harder. But it is well-cleared and fairly easy. Highly recommended.

Texas Roadhouse

by MisterE676 about Texas Roadhouse

A great steak house... peanuts are a plenty in the guest waiting room while you wait for a seat and you throw the shells on the floor as you finish them. Steaks are great as is everything else on the menu... the desserts are wonderful. Prime Rib
