Pikes Peak..the drive by auto...
by litown
Pikes Peak..the drive by auto is not for the faint of heart as yoiu soon get past the timberline where nothing grows. The tram is probably the best as you travel, without driving yourself on 2 lane roads, and pass many areas of interest. No matter time of year, always have a jacket as it is quite windy and cool at the top. Other then my family, the great view of the mountains from anywhere in the Springs.
Smoking BAN!
by kimod74
Good lord...as of July 1, 2006 the entire state of Colorado went smoke free. That means there is no smoking in restaurants and bars. Nor can you smoke within 15 feet of a building. So that means, when you go out to the bars at night, you can't step right outside the door (well, you are not supposed to, it's up to bar employees and/or management to really enforce) you have to step away, or stand on the curb or the middle of the street! Depends on where you are.
I for one am against the ban, I am of the belief that business owners, who pay taxes to the government should have the choice to determine if they want to be an all smoking establishment, a non smoking establishment, or both. I cannot stand the fact that the government involves themselves in our daily lives and businesses in this way!! UGGGHHHH!!!!
I mean, come on, if there are so many non smokers out there why are there not more "non smoking" bars and restaurants. Many restaurants were already smoke free (by choice) such as Everest Nepal and The Steaksmith.
That is my 2 penny's on this subject.
Also, the smoking lounge in the Denver International Airport was not part of the ban, casino's and cigar/martini bars are also EXEMPT from the ban. Well..for now anyways.
El Paso County Terry R. Harris Judicial Complex
by OlenaKyiv
Colorado Springs is not simple in its architecture even when it is government building. For example, I found El Paso County Terry R. Harris Judicial Complex building quite not ordinary, with large windows at the entrance. It looks more as a theatre to me.
Located across S. Tejon Street from Pioneers Museum.
Something's Hot in Here
by leafmcgowan about Club Eden
Entering into the artsy and acclaimed "hottest club in town" - a very fancy, very colorful, and very enlightening night club (and apparently a restaurant too) designed for the elite and the chic ... Professional dancers on the tables, lots of bars, lots of bouncers - a velvet artsy-deco main room, with a neon-white bar room with glowing walls and floors (like something out of the white room in the movie the Matrix), a crowded patio, and Se7en, their large dance floor room ... guest star Brianna Banks hosting activities, a flowing fountain with free coconut-blended mysterious drink, free jello shots, free liquor tasting, I spent a mere $10 on cover and $4 for a tall whiskey and coke. Lots of eye-candy. Guys rest room had a woman in it handing out dry towels. That was a new one. The crowd smelled of money, a mix between the rich computer geek and the ski slope jock, some older big-whigs obviously bleeding money, I enjoyed the club and environment ... just a bit different than what I'm used to in the club scene ... I'm sure I'll be back .... For those of you that watch "Smallville" - it would be the type of club that "Lex Luthor" would run (best analogy I could come up with since I've been watching Smallville all week.) Rated 4 1/2 stars out of 5. Visited 10/28/2005. Upscale club attire
Great Pizza and Salads
by aja28 about Il Vicino
Located in the heart of downtown - this is a busy spot for lunch or dinner. It can be noisy. But, the food is quite good. Dress is casual. The spinach salad is great. I usually get the bianca pizza. The nice thing is - you can get a child size pizza and a half of any salad. It's not listed on the meny, but all the locals order this way...small pizza and small salad.
