I've never quite known what to put under general tips but the local laws sound pretty good. The City of Denver levies a 12 percent lodging tax. The sales tax when eating out amounts to 7.2 percent of the bill. My favorite part - the liquor laws here in my great city. Don't make the mistake like I did of buying beer in the quick mart at the gas station or grocery store. They can only sell 3.2 percent beer (aka Mormon beer). You have to go to a liquor store if you want the full 7 percent beer or any hard alcohol. Liquor stores are closed on Sunday but the bars are open (any logic in that!!?!?). Last call by law is 2 am but I suppose some bars could close earlier if they wanted.The many, many, many good breweries, bars, and clubs.
