Visit the South Platte River...
by oxyrhyno
Visit the South Platte River bike/etc. path, a sometimes shocking juxtaposition of industrial blight and diverse fauna. Proximity to the mountains is the A-1 benefit of living here. And the cormorants, herons, and beavers on the river. Otherwise, forget it...

The Molly Brown's House Museum
by OlenaKyiv
Overall decoration of the house screams out about the owners' luxury: original paintings, draiperies, skins of animals (white bear and leopard), foreign statues, china, vases, etc. Molly had a taste and she knew how to show the position of her family with a luxury and rare things. Family's traveles added to a collection.
In all house I liked the most a front room or Turkish waiting room. It is decorated in ... of course, Turkish style, with two statues and a fireplace. Also there is an intriguing story about the statue "The Girl with a Trail." When the house was established as a museum and many things were retrieved, the statue was incidently noticed by one of the employees of museum in antique shop. It was recognized from house's pictures taken in 1910. The statue was bought out from the store, but trail was not found till present time.
Mile High Necessities

As the weather in Denver is ever-changing (I've actually seen 3 seasons in just ONE day), plan your wardrobe for layers. That way if you're momentarily too warm you can take off a layer but still have the option to put it back on when the winds shift 10 minutes later.
As we are 1 mile closer to the sun, the sun is significantly brighter and more intense here. Sunglasses and Sunscreen are a must during anytime of the year! If you are staying in the downtown Denver area, the merchants downtown capitalize on the fact that they have an almost 'captive consumer base' and increase prices accordingly. Prices in the suburbs and away from downtown are significantly lower.
Bandimere Speedway
by Toughluck
Had to put this one in. We drove by the track, west of town on 470. It looked like it was between events. Maybe something would be happening later that evening. We went up on Dinosaur Ridge. While having a great time seeing the fossils (see the Dinosaur Tip), I noticed the track down below. Low and behold, there was movement. They were having races. I guess with Denver so large that you don't draw a crowd and the open spaces disapate the sound. We didn't go to the track, but I watched a few races from high above.

The picture is with the other Denver pictures. Soon, before the middle of September, I hope.
