Right in the middle of town...
If you have noticed already, most of my tips center around either Hilton or Starwood properties. I have stayed in almost everyone of their "professional sport city" hotel locations. The Westin Tabor Center is the epitome of a good hotel. They have really thought of everything here.
Location... wonderful.... attached to a shopping mall, and walking distance to Coors Field, the Rockies home field. It is also less than a $5 cab ride to the Pepsi Center for hockey or basketball.
Food... The Palms restaurant is located in the hotel, and the ESPN Zone sports bar and grill is also located in the same building!
Rooms... spacious and include the Heavenly bed and shower.... if you have never tried this, spend the money one night soon.

The Center of Downtown
I've stayed here a couple of times and found it to be just fine. Like most Westins, prices are a bit high, but specials are usually offered if you shop around enough.
The Westin is a full service hotel located across the street from the Tabor Center, a not too impressive mall. The hotel is less than a block from the 16th street mall and is walking distance from Lodo and other downtown establishments. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are up to Westin standard.

Best Location
The Westin is a beautiful hotel down town and has the perfect location. It sits right on the 16th Street open-air pedestrian mall. It's within walking distance of everything you need. There are 19 floors providing wonderful views of both the city and the mountains. .
Unique Quality: There is a full service bar in the lobby called V's Lounge that serves until late in the night. There is a pool and a health facility along with a half court for basketball. Now for the best part. The Heavenly Bed and Bath ™ that pampers you well. The bed can be dangerous if you have an early flight or meeting. Near impossible to get out of all that down. The bath overs a curved curtin rod to keep that curtin away and duel shower heads.

Unique Quality: The Westin Tabor is a great hotel for the business traveler. It has all the amenities you need and it's location is right in the 16th Street Mall area. For those who travel alot, this is the place to stay. As part of the Westin chain, you know exactly what you are getting.
We stayed at the Westin Tabor Center at the end of August. The valet was great, the room was ready as promised but the hotel is a few steps away from great. The walls were thin - sounds from the other rooms and the corridor passed right through. The plumbing was terrible, if the person in the next room flushed the toilet or took a shower the drains in our room gurgled. Housekeeping couldn't seem to get it in gear. It was almost 5:00PM before our room was serviced and then they didn't replace the cups, soap, shampoo, etc. The reception desk staff didn't seem to know anything about the hotel or the area. Other than that, the hotel is in a good location for the 16th street mall and offered good views of the city.
Comfortable room
by TripAdvisor Member 4 Joyful Travel
My husband and I stayed at the Westin Tabor Center for 3 nights over the 4th of July weekend in 2005, while we attended a convention. We enjoyed the spacious room, the very comfortable bed, the excellent double showerhead, and the thick towels. The room was extremely clean. On the negative side, the bathroom had very poor lighting (almost dim--no good for putting on makeup) and the pillows had no firmness, so our heads sank straight to the mattress. This hotel is in an excellent location on the 16th Street Mall, a fascinating area of shops and great restaurants. Try a horse-drawn carriage ride in the evening! We also appreciated the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory across the street. We paid $100 per night for the room at the convention rate, and we paid $12 per day for self-parking. If you self-park, you don't have in-and-out privileges. Valet parking was $21 per day with in-and-out privileges. If you are just exploring the downtown area, you don't need a car; there is a free shuttle bus that runs along 16th street.
Disappointed in Denver
by A TripAdvisor Member
I booked the Westin because of its good reputation. I am not picky but July 30th at the Westin Tabor Center was too much of a disaster to not report. Arrived at 3:00, room was not ready. We asked for an upgrade or just another room. They gave us an "accessable", smoking room - We booked a non-smoking - tobacco smell was faint and we were tired, so we settled. To the hotel's credit they gave us a $25 food coupon for in-room service. Noticed that the carpet needed vaccuming badly. Was going to swim in the pool, but the water was so murky you could barely see your feet so we nixed that idea. Later that night pulled down the covers and noticed the duvet had fresh coffee or blood stains at the top of the cover by our face. In addition, the top sheet was torn. In the dimly lit bathroom there were ants by the toilet and the entire shower plumbing fixture where you switch from hot to cold swung freely a good 2"-3" in either direction from the wall. On check out the clerk didn't ask "how was your stay". But I politely told her all the problems we encountered. All she could say was "Ewww - sorry". I asked for a discount and after talking to her manager she gave us $50. off.
Apparently the "accessable" room was not used as often and therefore not cleaned or serviced. Would have gladly paid full price to enjoy a great room for which the Westin is famous.
Should be a Sheraton
by TripAdvisor Member FLMad_Dog
Just stayed there 3 nights - and we're a bit disappointed. The lobby is nice and modern, but the rooms are not up to Westin standards - the signs said they had been renovated in 2004, but the entertainment center was already falling apart, and the wallpaper in the hallway was beat up and should have been replaced. It was not nearly as clean as it should be in our room or the hall, and we were on the Starwood Preferred Guest floor! Service was fine, but the hotel is clearly not up to Westin standards - should be a Sheraton! The Hotel Teatro down the street is a much better choice for close to the same money.
