Budget hotels in downtown Denver
by PelleB
Hi everyone,
I'm travelling to the US from Europe this summer, with two of my friends, and we'll be staying three nights in Denver. Could anyone recommend good budget hotels in downtown Denver? We don't need anything fancy, as long as it's reasonably clean and preferably has an internet connection. We'll be doing a daytrip to Boulder one of the days, so anything that's close to the railway or bus station would be a bonus.
Thanks!
Pelle

It depends on what you consider budget and what time period you are looking at. The hotel I work at ranges from $119 to $299 a night, and to get cheaper is hard. The Comfort Inn is probably your best bet. It is on 17th Street and to get to Union or Market Street Station you could take the free 16th Street mall shuttle.
I just hope you are not planning on coming during the DNC. I get people calling for rooms during that time and I just laugh. Good luck - try a hotel about 100 kilometers from downtown Denver and you might have a chance.

Thanks for the reply!
We decided to rent a car after all, and settled on this hotel: http://www.timbersdenver.com/
We found a very cheap reservation through expedia.co.uk.
Cheers,
Pelle
P.S. No, we're coming a few days before the DNC...
Travel Tips for Denver
If you come in the springtime...
by nicolej
If you come in the springtime or summer, you should definitely go to a ball game at Coors Field. Even tho the Rockies suck, the ballpark is awesome and the Rocky Dogs are delicious!!! Denver/Boulder has beautiful springtimes. The flowers bloom, grass turns soft and greem the temps are in the 70s, the air is dry, a balmy kind of breeze whispers through the air. There is a beautiful musky scent that floats around.
The Auraria Campus - history
by OlenaKyiv
The Auraria Campus was opened for all three schools in January 1977.
As I heard from one of surviving member of the family who lived in the area where the campus was built, the residents were asked to leave their homes and as a compensation they and their children received scholarships for former Auraria residents, that covered the most of the tuition expenses.
Byers-Evans House Museum

The living room of the house was expanded to fit Evan's daughter's forte-piano. She studied a music from her childhood, and she went to Paris for a couple of years to study it there. The living room has an original painting - name: iceberg something... sorry I don't remember. The wallpaper in this room is the only original wallpaper in all house. By the way it is in a pretty good condition.
Sorry for the quality of the photo, but it is not allowed to take pictures with a flash inside of the house.
Just remember, everybody...

Just remember, everybody that's here came from California. That's why people have a cell phone attached to their heads. The worst drivers in the world all reside here, so get a map and please don't window shop from your vehicle. There are Chatty Californians racing home to their suburbun Row houses behind you.
Those Running and Gunning Nuggs

Playing inside the Pepsi Center for home games are the Denver Nuggets of the NBA. The Nuggets are what you would call a "rebuilding" franchise. The General Manager Kiki Vandeweghe is building a product that is capable of both winning games and is also fun to watch. Utilizing Denver's rarified air the concept employed is to run the visitors up and down the court, and out of breath.
If the Nuggets keep it up this will be one of the hottest tickets in Denver.
Nosebleed seats start at 10 dollars a pop and work up to over 100 dollars for lower level. If you are in need of lower level tickets (for a price) that you are told are sold out to season ticket holders just look for the people outside who are "buying" tickets.
Or ask me - I have a hook-up. They do perform a bag check at the gate. You are not allowed to bring food or drinks (including water) into the Pepsi Center.
