Simple Hotel Next To The Lake!

BEST WESTERN PTARMIGAN LODGE. This hotel was a very simple and clean hotel, nothing fancy but the location was worth it! Walk right across the street and the lake is right there! From the parking lot of the hotel, through the pine trees, you can see the lake. Lovely paved hiking trail takes you all the way around the lake (although that would be far to walk!). There is also several picnic table areas to sit at near the lake. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful and allowed us to check in early with no problem. Amenities in the hotel were typical, shampoo, conditioner, coffeemaker and coffee in room (no lotions). Cable T.V. was also nice and included HBO. The walls are VERY thin in this hotel, I could hear the person upstairs using the toilet!! The actual act of peeing!! I know that sounds gross, but imagine being there! Our building was the one that faced the parking lot and it was noisy! The nightime front desk clerk would take breaks and sit outside our window and yap on the phone really loud and we had to endure her endless conversations! So, if possible, request a different building away from the parking lot.

Unique Quality: There are several restaurants all within walking distance, the Arapahoe Cafe and Pub, Pug Ryans Steakhouse and Brewery and another one, (can't remember name right now, and it's the one we ate at!!). There is also a coffee/cafe called Kula's coffee, all of these are right across the street located in a small shopping center area! The Arapahoe Cafe is in the same parking lot as the hotel. Make sure that you make reservations for Pug Ryan's on a Friday night though! We were going to have to wait 60 minutes for a seat, so we decided to eat elsewhere. The Continental Breakfast was pretty good, although in a small room with limited seating. They offered coffee, tea, juice, toast, bagels and cream cheese, cereal, milk, pastries, and a variety of fruit, enough to fill up before you head off for the day.
