Durango Downtown Inn

The hotel is located about 2 blocks from downtown Durango. The room was OK, but not the best we stayed in. The hotel had an Applebee's Restaurant in it as well.

Unique Quality: Has a pretty good size Indoor Pool, Spa, and Sauna. Near Animas River Walkway.

Directions: On US Route 550 2 blocks north of intersection of US Route 160 West.

The location was ok for us. Durango Main Avenue was at a 5 min walk from the hotel.

It it a quiet place Still you can hear the steam wistle of the train from in your room ( great!)

Reservation is needed to eat in the Applebee's restaurant at the hotel. The place was jam-packed around 7 pm.
Thank goodness! By this we found ourself a few minutes later in Francisco's on Main Avenue. Also packed, but a lot more cosy!

We didn't have breakfast in the hotel. At the opposite side of the street there is a supermarket where we bought baguettes and cheese. Variety is the spice of life, and the American bagels and waffles are tasty, but our Belgian stomac couldn't stand this high calorie diet for long :-)

Unique Quality: All the rooms have been recently remodeled. They have the usual amenities, such as a coffee maker, a hair dryer, an iron and an iron board.
Ice machines in the hall.

The indoor pool is straight.

I was annoyed when I turned on the TV while unpacking and saw o'Reilly™ spewing his normal bile, but Hey, it takes all kinds and obviously the person in room 212 obviously doesn't care about the truth in his news.

But when I terned the TV on again this morning to check the weather, it was FauxNooz again. The desk tells me that all the sets in the Durango HI have been set that way on purpose. Is this wise?

Would it make more sense to have the sets 'open' to the (non-functioning) Channel Guide or at least a network that doesn't automatically alienate the intelligent, informed *majority* of your guests?

Even the Weather Channel would make more sense as a 'welcome' to your traveling clientelle, whether here on business or pleasure.

Unique Quality: Location is contextual: VERY good if you need to be 'downtown' but parking can be an adventure.

My wife and son took advantage of the adjacent (and extensive!) bike paths. Other reviewers have discussed the housekeeping - VERY thorough (if not efficient): I had three stop by while I was catching up on my eMail and that was *after* the room had been cleaned while I caught an early lunch!

Directions: South Downtown and (obviously) on the river
