Dog Friendly Lodging in Estes Park

by vssinfl

Anyone had any experiences with a really nice dog friendly hotel or cabin? Some will not let us leave our pet in the room while we are gone. Any suggestions? Thanks!

It's probably to late but just in case you still need it, a good place to stay with dogs is Triple R Cottages, 1000 Riverside Dr, Estes Park, CO 80517 970-586-5552 If you get cabin #6 (I think) it's far enough from the others that no one would even know if your dog were barking.

It was about 8 years ago that we stayed there but they had decent little cabins at a decent price. Not a luxury place but it was clean and near the park. The afternoon that we got there a deer wandered by our cabin and the morning we got up to leave there were several elk feeding right outside. It was awesome!

Hello,
Did you find a place that was good to pets? Did you take your pet to Estes? I am going back and forth about taking our dog with us. What was your experience like? Thank you for any advice.

We stayed in Allenspark at the Hideout cabins (honeymoon (log) cabin with little kitchen); very rustic (with television and full cable channels) and nearby stream and a short trail for the dogs. They had a small water and food bowl. Bring your dog bed or blanket. Quiet and private area with the little town of Allenspark that has a good sandwich shop that accepts dogs on the porch. At Estes Park we had to have our dogs outside of the fenced patio to eat (Ed's Cantina- great casual food and atmosphere).

Travel Tips for Estes Park

Try to rent a 4x4 car, a pick-up and drive an unpaved road from Estes Park to the top of the Mountain Divide. it is a very bautiful land scape and it is safe.
I was there without jacket, and it is very cold even in summer. but the greatest thing in my opinion is the elevation, almost 4000 m above the sea level (12,000 feet), when i walked i felt tired afted one minute (and i use to run daily, even marathon).
In the top, two roads merge, the interstate one, and the unpaved i mention.
The shop in there hire a lot of foreign students in the summer, and they work only 6 hours a day due to the elevation I was only one day in Denver, was crowd of homeless, but I like a lot...clean..and a spirit of the far west.

Extreme Hiking and Mountain Climbing

by nphau1016

This is an awesome chance to hike up to one of the highest points in colorado and take advantage of the beautiul mountain vistas and scenery. The temperature does get quite cold at night, so be prepared for that. Once you have pushed yourself up into the boulder field, set up camp, and take a rest so you are ready for another ascent to the Keyhole, which contains a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. When going on this trip, make sure to bring along good water/ filter pumps in order to keep yourself hydrated and away from altitude sickness. There are plenty of good water sources along the trail to pump water from. Also, keep a lot of granola bars and trail mix on hand in case you begin to feel nautious or dizzy, this will keep away the pukes.

Surf and Turf - OMG!!

by Scotlass about The Wild Rose

A little pricey but well worth the cost!!
An intimate restaurant set inside a quaint little "Galleria". Split into two sections you have the slightly more casual setting to the right and the linen clad tables on the left - pay no heed to where they seat you - the food is incredible.
The service is a little staid, we weren't too impressed with our waitress but again, the food makes up for it.
Look out for special flyers on the outside billboard - we lucked out on a two for one dinner!! Filet Mignon and Lobster ($22.50). Served with a delicious mushroom style sauce, an artistic display of al-dente vegetables and your choice of soup and salad from a salad bar.

A MUST HAVE

Great breakfast

by goingsolo about The Egg and I

The Egg and I is a diner style chain restaurant which serves a good breakfast at a reasonable price. You can't beat that anywhere, but, in a tourist mecca like Estes, good eats and reasonable prices are at a premium.

Eggs are the specialty of the house here, but the bakery is nothing to complain about either. The cinnamon buns were excellent.

Estes Park Museum

by malianrob

The museum is a nice place to find out alittle more about this cozy little town. You can get information on the different Indian tribes that are originally from this area (the Ute, Shoshone, and the Comanche). You can also see some artifacts from the 1800's and learn about life in Estes Park in those days.
