Don't forget that Park is in Mountains
by OlenaKyiv
If you are going for hiking take good comfortable shoose. By the way you may take even high-heels, because the road around the lake and downtown have good pavements Take warm clothes, some sweater, or anything that will protect you from wind.
The weather can seem very sunny and nice, but cool wind can blow. Hmmmmm.... I cary it everywhere
Glen Haven entrance
by megsoc13
If you're driving up the Big Thompson Canyon to Estes Park, turn off Hwy 34 at Drake. Take the right fork in the road that goes to Glen Haven. This is just another way to get to Estes if you get bored of the highway. It is also the most beautiful way to enter Estes. When you crest the hill and Estes and Rocky Mountain come into view it's breathtaking. There are also entrances to RMNP trails off this road that you don't have to pay for! :)
Breakfast With An OLE
by johngayton about The Egg and I
As might be eggs-spected (HA!) from the name this chain of Colorado and Texas restaurants (there's a couple of other branches scattered around the country) specialises in breakfasts. Delish they are too with the menu covering pretty much everything that you could possibly want and even a couple of options without eggs.
Decor and service are very much classic American Diner-style and none the worse for it. Despite being part of a chain pretty much everything is cooked to order, staff are friendly, service is prompt and prices very reasonable. If I remember correctly I opted for the Scrambled Eggs with Sausage, Sweet Peppers and the Pork Green Chilli Sauce, washed down with fresh orange juice and copious coffee - spot on! The Eggs Benedict looked pretty good too. Well worth seeking out wherever you are!
Home of Staggering Elk Lager!
by Shaken_Bake about Estes Park Brewery
I’m married to a beer-loving Canadian who was delighted to find that there is a brewpub in wilds of the Rocky Mountains. Whenever we visit Estes Park, the Estes Park Brewery is always our first stop in town!
The brewery is in a large white building that is hard to miss driving up Moraine Avenue, just past the go-cart park. The restaurant and bar are upstairs in a large, open room. Along one side of the room are windows that overlook the brewery room below, with huge metal tanks to hold the different beers. The menu is composed of basic bar food, such as burgers, pizza, and appetizers. It has a good menu for lunch or dinner, the food is reasonably priced, and families are welcome.
In addition to seasonal specials, there are six beers normally offered by Estes Park Brewery, with names to match the location, such as Trail Ridge Red; Long’s Peak Raspberry Red; and my favorite, Staggering Elk Lager! The downstairs area contains the gift shop and a tasting counter where visitors can sample the various brews. I also enjoy the flavor of Stinger Wild Honey Wheat, which has a higher alcohol content due to the yeast fermenting the honey… yum (hic!) The beer is sold by the bottle, so you can mix-and-match a six-pack or case. We always get a supply for our stay to enhance our Rocky Mountain sunsets from the comfort of our deck (but remember, the elk get mad if you drink and drive, since the elk DO own the road up here!). They have an excellent garden burger, which I love. The wings and nachos are also pretty decent.
Rent a horse
by OlenaKyiv
Estes Park is the heaven for horse riders, from beginner and to advanced. There are nice horses of different sizes, colors and, I believe, tempers. There are speciall trails for horse riding. Also some farms offers something like breakfast horse riding.
I tell you the truth I didn't try riding because that moment I had my TREK and I was afraid it would have become jelous, so I left this idea for later.
