Hi,
I've just done something very uncharacteristic and booked a lodge for a four day stay in Estes Park, Colorado, without having any other research than a guidebook. having visited tripadvisor.com after the fact reviews are bad... does anyone else have experience with Lake Shore Lodge in Estes Park, Colorado?

I go to Estes Park every year. Although I have never stayed at Lake Shore Lodge I have heard good things about it. While in Estes Park eat at the Italian Rest. there. Don't know the name. when there everyone can tell you where it is.
Even though Colorado had just gone through a heat wave, and the sky was clear as a bell that morning, it snowed on us the third day of our trip. I thanked my friend who warned me to pack a good jacket because you just never know what the weather is going to do. He was so correct. It may take up a lot of space in your suitcase, but pack a jacket for everyone who goes.
Seated under the 'Two Owls' is McGregors Ranch. It's open to the public and once was the source of supplies for the town of Estes Park. It's a great opportunity to get out and see a western ranch. GENERAL PUBLIC - MUSEUM TOURS
Museum is open to the public June - July - August Tuesday through Friday 10 am to 4 pm
Self guided tours of the museum, milkhouse, smokehouse, blacksmith shop and horse-drawn machinery exhibits.
We eat whenever possible at these restaurants, located in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Estes Park. the only downside is that, due to their popularity, there is often a waiting line to be seated. We try to go early for lunch (11:30 or so) and that helps.
Most Egg and I's are open only for breakfast and lunch, but not for dinner. I love the Albacore Tuna sandwich, my wife likes the eggs benedict. Both are pictured below if you click the photo of the restaurant.
I was only 19 years old there, and it was 5 years ago...the food was different that expected, lot of meat, mexican food and barbeque....
Nothing interesting, only a place called Lazy-b-ranch, with a bizarre far west espectacle....i was invited afortunately
The Stanley Hotel was the inspiration behind Stephen King's novel "The Shining." The TV mini-series adaptation was actually filmed there. But much more than that, it is a beautiful and welcoming place to visit, even if you are not officially checked-in.
