  • This hotel is terrible.

There was a loud party going on in the meeting room; staff members were unresponsive to complaints. The door to the balcony did not lock properly, a light fixture did not work, the bathtub did not drain properly, the rooms are beyond dingy, and the walls are paper thin. This is, without a doubt, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. You couldn't pay me to spend another night at the Rodeway Inn in Estes Park.

Re: Estes Park trip first week of February

by santanesia

We leave in eight days to spend the first week of February ('09) at the World Mark timeshare in Estes Park. We know other parts of Colorado pretty well but not the northeast really at all. Can anyone tell us if Boulder and Laramie are good day trips? Also, how is the downhill skiing up that way? We'd probably only ski one or two days at most and might opt to skip it altogether if it's not good. Does anybody know if that Wed. snowshoe trip out of Estes Park is a good adventure? And is there any worthwhile hiking this time of year? I know, lots of questions but any answers would be a great help.

Re: Re: Estes Park trip first week of February

this is the web site for the info. center in Estes Park.
The snow has been awesome here for skiing. The snowshoe trips are always
fun there...the scenery is so beautiful.
It all depends on what you are looking for as Boulder is so different from Laramie.

Travel Tips for Estes Park

National Park Village

by Toughluck

On the southwest side, where the road splits to lead south towards another eastside entrance and the other road continues directly into the National Park and the Beaver Meadow Visitor Center is National Park Village. Full supplies, a very nice restaurant and some interesting store surrounding it.

Packing List

by ephobius

At noon in summer it's fresh, but bring a sweater or light jacket for the time it gets cold at sunset.
A medio día en verano está fresco, pero lleva un suéter o chamarra ligera para la hora en que enfría al caer la tarde.

Lake Estes

by goingsolo

Heading west along hwy 36 with visions of Rocky Mountain magesties in your head, you'll see a clear blue lake, a seeming mirage in semi arid Colorado. This is Lake Estes and the town's recreation area. A path circles the lake, picnic tables are available and, from here, you can catch your first glimpse of Rocky just miles away.

Awesome Pizza!

by megsoc13 about Village Pizza

Village Pizza has excellent pizza that you can eat in or take home and bake. I think it tastes better if you eat in.

Also has arcade games. The Florentino pizza has chicken, black olives, Kalamata olives, spinach, and maybe tomatoes. There's a taste of olive oil and garlic to it.

What is really cool about waterfalls is the noise they make. I think they are very soothing. I also like the mist they make and just the way they look. Isn't amazing what water moving over solid material can do. This little waterfall was close to the narrow one-way road we were on. One could park their car and then walk down to it. See it from the top or bottom. It was a very steep waterfall with alot of power.
