A Riverside Inn: FAIRPLAY's MOST DANGEROUS HOTEL -DO NOT STAY HERE!

Mediocrity, overpriced and DANGEROUS! DO NOT STAY HERE! All veterans, service members, and patriots ... be forewarned ... NOT A SAFE PLACE!!! During the last night of our family reunion, our family reserved the hotel conference room to watch a reunion video (a video of United States relief efforts in Haiti by one of our family members). Following our dinner at a local restaurant (BTW: Millonzi's Italian restaurant is FANTASTIC! ... a 5 out of 5!), the family reunion returned to the hotel to find that the staff had given the conference room to another group (even though we had the room reserved and guaranteed from 7:30 PM until we were complete). When asked why the room was given to another group, the hotel staff stated that the tour group the room was given to was " ... more valuable to us [the hotel staff] than the Americans ..." and "they [the hotel staff] do not like American Service Members or their propaganda videos." When we questioned the staff about the reservation process or how to file a formal grievance, a member of the hotel staff began a tirade of verbal abuse (to include profanity and name calling in the lobby ... in front of family and young children) and physically threatened a member of our family. No member of the hotel staff was receptive to any discussion and due to continued verbal abuse by a hotel staff member, a formal police charge was filed against that staff member with Park County Sheriff's Department. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL because the staff is a DANGER TO YOUR FAMILY and will absolutely ruin your holiday, vacation, or stay. If you are an American Service Member or support our troops in anyway, this is not a safe location ... keep driving. Amenities are basic and overpriced. As there are few selections for hotels in this area, you might consider to chance this establishment due to lack of choice, but if you like your air conditioning whining all day and evening, and then having it turned off completely at midnight (BTW: the staff said to "open your window" to us ... and we were on the first floor with small children), paying way too much for the service you receive, being challenged and treated like a fourth-class citizen, having highway hitchhikers and wanderers frequent the lobby or crash on the couch at all hours of the night ... then roll the dice. Another example: we requested a pillow that wasn't "a down pillow" due to an allergic reaction and were told that, "There were no other pillows and that it was our problem; sorry, you'll have to sleep without one." Please, read all the reviews on this hotel and make your own decision ... you'll quickly realize that this review is "on par" with others. My worst mistake: not reading the reviews in advance and avoiding this hotel altogether. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Breakfast = mediocre; bagels, danish, coffee, and 1 waffle machine for the entire hotel, etc. ... basic
Pool = cold water, not even the kids would get in because it was so cold
Hot Tub = small, always covered, not really hot, and dirty water ...
Air Conditioners = whine and grind constantly AND turn off (yes, hotel turns them off) at midnight ... rooms get hot and stuffy and you either have to open a window or open your door ... both are dangerous
Lobby is Unsafe = vagrants and others frequent hotel lobby and area at night ... no security other than the lock on your door
Cleanliness = average overall, no frills ... basic
TV's = small, low volume only
Pillows = only down pillows ... hope you don't have allergies
Staff = abusive, belligerent, not friendly, see review above ... HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!
Location = no onsite food, a bar next door, directly off HWY 285 ... heard traffic all the time ...
Conference Room = good luck with scheduling ... had a reservation given to another party ... see review above ...
