A happy family with Ankylosaur
The main reason to stop in Fruita is to visit the Dinosaur Museum. Well, Fruita is also the first sizable town you come to if you've been driving on I-70 east from Green River, Utah, so it's also a place to stop for gas and food. The road between Fruita and Green River is bleak and passes through uninhabited country.
On the "over the edge" loop you ride up above the Grand Junction valley, climbing about 4,500 veticle feet. Then you drop down on some really sweet singletrack that takes you to a dry waterfall that you have to rapell, down, with your bike. One of the best rides I have ever done. Inquire at the local Fruita bike shop on main about it.
