Golden is just west of Denver. I could be wrong, but I don't think it's too far from the airport.

Denver is definitely your closest major airport. Unfortunately, the Denver airport is east of the city of Denver and Golden is west and a bit north. You'll definitely need to arrange for transportation.

DIA is the closest major airport, Centennial is the closest regional. There are shuttles to and from DIA to almost anywhere.

Travel Tips for Golden
Clear Creek
by Tom_Fields
Golden began here along this fast-running mountain stream. It continues to be a favorite place for hiking, tubing, white-water rafting, and other recreation. The bridge over the creek was rebuilt following a tragic accident over a century ago. The old bridge collapsed due to overloading; to this day a plaque on the bridge limits how many people and vehicles can occupy it at one time.

"Downtown Golden"
This is one of those picturesque towns where you can have an enjoyable visit without doing a lot of things. Just stroll about and take in the scenery. People here are friendly, and the mountain backdrop is beautiful.
It's only a short trip from Denver. Golden also lies close to many of the great scenic attractions of the Rockies.
"The Rockies"
From Golden, the Rockies are just up the road. If you stay the night here, then you can get an early start on exploring one of America's greatest scenic areas.
WHERE THE WEST LIVES
by cheesecake17
Golden, Colorado is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, only 15 minutes from Denver but a world apart.
The city is served by 5 major highways, including Interstate 70, Colorado 470, and U.S. Highway 6, which provide a direct route to Denver, Boulder and the mountains.
You can feel the WEST when you you get to GOLDEN, so different from DENVER but great little town to explore as a day trip...
