Travel Tips for Grand Junction

Glenwood Springs

by BruceDunning

This is maybe a fine town to visit out to the east of Grand Junction about 80 miles when tourists are there. I came through here to take a look around and could not even get to the first main intersection (Labor DAy) without 30 minute delay. It was a madhouse and risky driving with vehicles going in every direction and not being friendly to the other tourists. I can only imagine the springs are nice, but could not even get close to find out. Taking pictures was too dangerous due to the traffic and congestion.

Old Downtown

by BruceDunning

Grand Junction has done a very good job of reworking the old downtown area and preserving what they can so the decline is not rolling downhill too fast. They have quaint shops and places to eat. One of the more interesting notes is all the statues and sculptures there and throughout the town. Some they own, and others are on loan.

Rasta_Rob's Grand Junction Page

Grand Junction is the largest city on the western slope of Colorado's Rocky Mountains, and it is the capital of Colorado's fruit growing region. Grand Junction peaches are among the sweetest and juciest in the world. When I was a kid in Boulder (other side of the mountains), my neighbors used to make the long drive to Grand Junction every year just to fill up their car full of peach bushels. Grand Junction is also the gateway to Colorado National Monument and Grand Mesa, which feature some of the most spectacular scenery in the state.
