Travel Tips for Loveland

loveland...slow down !!

by hapenny

"its not chicago"

when i first came to loveland, well i drove right thru on the way to estes park, and thought it looked like a typically pretty small town america place.
a year later i find myseld getting married and moving ..uprooting from England to loveland.
now...the one thing i had to get straight in my own mind ......the pace of life here....its slooooow!
there is not a lot to do or see, the arts and music are represented well, in august they have a corn roast
well......
hicksville??
not at all....i was just looking at it with the mentality of a city dweller, which is odd really as i grew up on a farm in the middle of nowhere myself, and most of my adult life i have craved the solitude of open space with few people....
loveland is something else
its a community

the street where i live, has such a mix of people, all very cool and interesting personalities, you just have to stop thinking 'city' when you visit loveland...and thats easy....just take a walk around....cycle...omg dont wait for a bus
hehe local services are not too good, if you find yourself at a bus stop.....take a tent and a thermos of coffee, schedules seem to be run using a sun-dial
there are many good cycle tracks around town...ive only explored around 30 miles of them, but some cool rides or walks around reservoirs, with the mountains a constant companion westward....

Friends in Loveland...

"Cute Place - Great People"

Okay, I'm biased - two of my greatest friends live in Loveland, Colorado - so needless to say, I drop in on them when I'm anywhere around the foothills.

Loveland is great for other reasons as well - the arts and culture venues around town are established and of high quality, sculpture abounds...and frankly, if you want to avoid I25, you'll take Hwy 287 through Loveland to get to Estes Park, Longmont, Boulder, and Denver.

Loveland

"Location, Location, Location"

Loveland is located on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, roughly 1 hour north of Denver. The city itself is flat but it lies at the base of the foothills. It's about a 30 minute drive into the mountains to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.
