It doesn’t get much better than this. We bunked at the Red Arrow on both ends of our 2014 trip, and it has so many pluses that I hardly know where to begin.

This is an older, very well-maintained property with a large, cozy lobby, fitness room, pool, indoor hot tub, breakfast room, firepit/yard and coin laundry spread over 2 acres. The rooms are HUGE, comfortable and very clean, and come with coffeemakers, mini fridges, microwaves, irons, hairdryers and free wifi. Ours opened up to a small patio facing the backyard, and was very quiet: we didn’t hear our neighbors or traffic noise from the (busy) main road at all.

Breakfast - included in the tariff - is no stale, half-baked continental affair: fresh, locally sourced eggs, make-your-own waffles, sausage, cereal, bagels, toast, pastries, biscuits and gravy, juice, coffee and other goodies. There was enough and then some to keep a couple of hikers going until suppertime.

Desk staff? Terrific: friendly, helpful and armed with fresh-baked cookies to welcome their road-weary guests.

The kicker? All of this for well under $100 for a double-queen standard room. Rates could fluctuate by season and room type (executive, king or 2-queen mini suite, family suite or standard) so don’t quote me on price but add up all the amenities and it’ll be a bargain.

Excellent choice for families, groups, seniors (ask for AARP rates) and pretty much anyone else who can do without room service and a concierge. There are better pictures than mine on their website so check it out.

The National Land Rover rally was based here at the Red Arrow. We got in on a cancellation, but had to "suffer" with a king-size bed/jacuzzi room. Shucks.

We arrived to probably the nicest reception staff I've ever met at a hotel. Sylvia gave us food coupons, directions, suggestions and more.

The room was huge...comfortable...had everything (fridge, microwave, coffee pot...) and a huge jacuzzi (one person though). The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Wireless internet was easy to start and fast. Unlike many other hotels, there were plenty of electric outlets for cell phone chargers, battery chargers, etc.

Unique Quality: The jets on this jacuzzi were strong enough to push you right to the other end of the tub.
Also had a walk-in shower.

***Free Breakfat***

Not just rolls and coffee. There's waffles and biscuits and gravy! And they were really good...(it's hard to get good biscuits and gravy in New Jersey unless you make it yourself)

Directions: On Route 50...towards the eastern end of town.
