If you like trendy places the rooms are decorated in a western motif and are nice. Breakfast that is set out for guests is fabulous, fruit, rolls, bread, cereal and yogurt. Nothing elaborate but great way to start the day.
There are a handful of employees that work at the Niwot Inn that go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. But there are others that want to accept no responsibility, make comments that make you wonder why would you want to stay here or ever come back. We have vacationed in Colorado 6 different times throughout the years and will do so in the future but will never stay at the Niwot Inn again, please see complaints below for why.
Now for the complaints:
1 – Upon check-in we find they had changed our room to accommodate as much of the wedding party as possible. Not an issue with changing the room as we had not been there before anyway and wouldn’t know the difference between one room and the next. Problem was they also changed the reservations and had us checking out a day early and if we wanted to stay what was planned and on our confirmation we would have to change rooms in the middle of the stay. When told changing rooms in the middle of the stay our response was that was horse ***, changing our room and changing our reservations to make us change rooms. Room situation was resolved but individual doing check-in on 9/2/11 kept saying don’t shoot the messenger and not to blame them. Excuse me but there was no additional info from the Inn on the room change or reservation change and this person was representing the Inn, only person at the time we could find at the Inn.
2 – There is no help in carrying luggage up stairs and no elevators. Response when asked for assistance from same individual in item 1 above. If you want that, go to the Marriott. Don’t worry next time we will as it is 3 miles away in Longmont and CHEAPER. Response didn’t sit well as I personally was out of a boot cast 2 days from having a broken foot.
3 - As for safety, be careful as the responsibility is on you. The tub is very deep and nice, looks like one of the bathrooms out of a magazine. Issue is the tub is very high and hard to step into and out of with no safety bars to grab.
4. GREEN to EXTREME
a. The green thing has been taken to extreme at the Inn to where you never get your glasses changed out from the time you check in to the time you check out. Changing out all the glasses in all the rooms at the Inn would take one dish washer load so this is a bit too much extreme going green.
b. There are no liners for the ice buckets and the first day our ice bucket was dirty. They replaced it with a different one, still no liner but why should we have faith the next one was clean when the one in the room that was prepped for check-in wasn’t.
Bottom line for the price you can have a much nicer stay 3 miles up the road at Longmont at one of their Hotels and it will be cheaper. That’s where we will be next time.
