Nice location, loved the hot springs-fed hot tubs. Friendly, helpful proprietors
Unique Quality: We rented the apartment, which has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and well appointed kitchen, dining room [leaf can be added to dining room table, making it possible to seat 6+], and living room.
I think it was about 2x the price of a simple double room, but it fit 4 of us nicely and had lots of room...plus the kitchen, etc. Therefore, it was definitely worth the price.

The second night of Columbus Day weekend we stayed here and were delighted at the accommodations. The room was clean, there were extra towels for the hot tubs as well as in-room fridge, microwave, coffee maker and iron. The setting was gorgeous. Box Canyon Falls were only a 15 minute walk away. There are four hot tubs on the grounds which provide a view of the canyon. It was lovely to soak watching the sunset as snow fell around us. I highly recommend this lodge for couples and families alike.

Unique Quality: A cheaper alternative to Wiesbaden. The San Juan Mountain surround the hot springs and provide a view of the wooden tubs on redwood decks into which the springs feed.

The box canyon lodge has the best location for visiting the ice falls or the box canyon falls. the rooms are clean and nice, the staff was friendly. The best part was the laid back atmosphere, and the hottubs. the tubs are barrels, and it's kinda confusing at first, but they are different temperatures if i recall, and at night a couple can climb in and sip a drink while in the barrels, looking up, into the nightime sky. (except for a few mosquitos) it was very nice.
Very friendly and helpful. Amazed at how clean and quiet. Loved the bench outside the door under the pine trees to sit and drink our coffee looking at the gorgeous mountain view and water falls.
Coffee, juice and muffins in the mornings. Comfortable bed, and room had everything you might need from ironing board to hairdryer. We certainly plan to return.
This is small motel but all seem to be same in Ouray.
Enjoyed the hot tubs but 2 of them not working. They invite wildlife for your enjoyment with all of their feeders and this is a plus for them. Room was small and noisy and it was warm without A/C, We did use the box fan.
We stayed here because this establishment had been recommended on tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. All of the employees we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and neat. The lack of air conditioning was not a problem during this time of year, but I did see that a large fan was available in the room. The hot tubs were great!
My family enjoyed our stay at Box Canyon Lodge. There seem to be no high end resorts in Ouray. All of the Inns here look about the same from the outside. Our room had a separate bedroom and a kitchen/living area. I loved the layout of the room. Ouray is very beautiful. We enjoyed Box Canyon Falls, shopping, and the hot springs. We prefer the quiet, peaceful pace of Ouray to the trendy Telluride.
My girlfriend and I took a trip to visit Ouray because I always wanted to check out Colorado for the Skiing. We didn't have any problems getting to the lodge due to the friendly advice from the car rental people. It took us a little time to get used the air since we were from New York, but the fresh air did us good. The lodge was a great time, the hot springs hold up to there reputaion, the water was very relaxing after a long day of taking the view or riding horses like we did for a day. For dinner we highly recommend Bien Tiempo. A friendly mexican restaurant with good people and good margaritas. The town itself is small so if you don't have a car to drive around in your kinda stuck. The hotel itself the front desk staff is very kind a full of info if needed. The rooms were very clean and quiet and we were there on a sold out weekend so we would know. Only one of the hot tubs was out of order but the rest were working properly and there was no real wait for any of them. Our visit was a great one and I would def. recommend anyone go there for a getaway in the moutains. I'll def. be back for the Skiing in nearby Telluride.
The Box Canyon Lodge is set, imagine that, in a box canyon in Ouray, Colorado. We arrived in the afternoon as it was beginning to snow lightly, and the location and setting were truly lovely. THe room was spotless and well-appointed. The hot springs feed a series of old wooden tubs set into several decks in the hill behind the hotel, creating a picturesque and romantic setting. Service was outstanding, although the continental breakfast could be a little better. Overall, a wonderful experience in a beautiful mountain setting.
