Travel Tips for Pagosa Springs

Visit The Springs!. There's many different pools of different temperatures and it's open all night. It's practically a theme park of hot springs. Across the street is the older hot springs that is the more authentic but is pretty funky. The mineral water swimming pool is kind of unique though. Besides the springs, Pagosa also has hunting, fishing, skiing at Wolf Creek, hiking, etc. Soaking in the springs while it was snowing at night. They even pipe hot water through the handrails.

There's a little historical museum on the east end of town that's worth a quick look.

To the west a few miles out of town on 160 is Chimney Rock. That's a decent walk and there's Anasazi ruins up at the top (kivas with a view). I'd recommend visiting the kivas off season (fall, winter) when there's nobody around.

Pagosa Springs - a funny little town

by whatson

I lived in Pagosa Springs 1994-98. Below was the view from our back yard. Pagosa is up 7000ft not far from Wolf Creek Pass and the Continental Divide. It can get a lot of snow some years, other times it's very dry.
