I've spent many, many a day exploring the wilderness of Steamboat and the surrounding area. Quite frankly, the wilderness is what I adore about Steamboat. I could spend hours exploring, hiking, camping, climbing, and always find some place new to me. My most favorite memories involve lounging around mountain streams and cat-napping under the warm sun.
Steamboat Springs is located in Yampa Valley in the Rocky Mountains. The town is nestled between several mountain peaks surrounding the valley. The picture here is from a place called Fish Creek Falls, about a 20 minute drive from the center of town.
To enter into the valley of Steamboat Springs, you must drive through Rabbit Ears Pass when travelling from the South. It is a great place to hike, camp, or rock climb.
When in Steamboat I stayed with a dear friend - this is the view on a Saturday Morning from the front porch. The visit was taken Mid-July during a festival called "Rainbow Weekend in Steamboat."
