Steamboat Springs: skiing is all I know!
"Steamboat-a great ski town"
I have been to Steamboat twice; both in the 1980's. We enjoyed the small-town feel of it. May have changed a lot since then. I bet the mountain hasn't. Stemboat has a great reputation. It has great snow, typical of Colorado's Summit County. It is just a short drive on 9 (under an hour) over the pass off I70, the main interstate highway linking Denver and the ski areas of Summit County. If you stay in Silverthorne and ski Copper, A Basin, etc. it is an easy drive to go up and ski Steamboat.
This was where my son first skied. I think he was 2-1/2 years old. OK, so it's not a picture of Steamboat or the slope, per se, but it was taken just outside the main lodge.
Notice the very straight and long skis!
