Skiing Southwest CO
Friends and I skied the SW part of Colorado in January. Great trip, Monarch, Wolf Creek, Silverton Mountain and Telluride. The Monarch and Wolf Creek areas were great local ski areas. Wolf Creek was loaded with snow an offered great challenges. Silverton Mountain is a great expert only area, extreme to the point that the disclaimer that you sign states in bold type, "You could die here today". Very nice. The people are devoted to skiing and the mountain way of life.
I been to Telluride before and I think it's the best area in CO to visit anytime of the year. I think the local folks are the nicest I've been around in a resort community or anywhere for that matter. They are involved in life and want to share their community with you. Mountain Village is well managed and very beautiful. The town is great aswell and a dog friendly place. I think they called it Dog Town on an ad I saw. Anyway go there and you won't regret it. On the down side.....it can be expensive at times. All mountain skis, like K2 Apache Recons and clothing for all conditions. Good hiking shoes, fly fishing gear, mountain bike and every other toy you have for the outdoors.
