If you have LOTS of time, and are in the area, you might decide to visit Telluride. This town is so out of the way, you have to go around some mountains to get there. It feels like you are coming into the back door of the Rockies.
Unless you especially want to stay in Telluride for skiing, I would recommend looking into Aspen, Vail, or the many ski areas west of Denver. They are a lot more accesible.
Prices in Telluride will be higher, too, because of the distance to haul the goods, and because people who come here can afford it.
The property in and around Telluride has been bought up and resold at huge profits.
