The largest attraction in the Vail Valley during the winter or summer is Vail Mountain. Vail is one of America's most popular and prestigous ski resorts. There are activities and tours taking place year-round on the mountain. You can also enjoy dinner and winter events such as tubing, ski biking and laser tag at the top of the gondola, with an amazing view from the top of Vail Mountain. The town features many restaurants and shops in the style and charm of a european ski village. Vail packs all the amenities of the city into a elegant ski town with access to some of the most beautiful mountains.
Hike to Hanging Lake - this is...

Hike to Hanging Lake - this is about an hour hike in Glenwood Canyon to the most incredible crystal clear lake you'll ever see - you can see trout swimming deep in the lake. Waterfalls, spouting rock and views of the canyon are spectacular. This is easily on the top ten list of the most beautiful places I've seen. Check out this website: www.hikingincolorado.org
The park is about 7 miles east of Glenwood Springs.
This hike begins at the Hanging Lake rest stop along Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon, through which the Colorado River flows. Westbound travelers must exit a few miles farther west at the Grizzly Creek exit and double back on the eastbound lane to the Hanging Lake exit. Eastbound travelers can drive east from Glenwood Springs directly to the Hanging Lake exit. The return access to Interstate 70 from Hanging Lake is westbound only, so drivers who wish to continue east on Interstate 70 must travel west to the Grizzly Creek exit to get back on track after the hike.
Breakfast buffet spread
by Gypsystravels about Cucina
Cucina is an upscale Italian restaurant serving some of the finest Italian dishes. We only had breakfast here every morning, but it was a feast. The spread was huge, all sorts of breads, spreads, eggs, cold cuts, fruits, cereals, and flavored coffe, you were ready for a championship run. Loved their hash brown and eggs, their cold cut spread, freshly squeezed juices and of course their flavored coffees.
Vail one huge mountain resort

"vail rocks!"
for starters vail is about 7 miles wide so there is no shortage of runs and bowls to hit. everytime you go over a ridge there is anouther bowl to explore, its amazing! they have everything from groomed runs to back bowls, glade skiing, a nice park, and it never seems to end. this is one resort you can explore for days and not get bored. the front side where you can see the town is nice but for me gets to crowded and some of the runs get boring for me, so i spend most of my time in the back bowls where you can go down a bowl, go into the trees for a while and come back out into the chute and just go wherever you want.
some of my favorite bowls were the china bowl, sun up bowl, and petes bowl. siberia bowl was really sweet too but the thing i didnt like about it was it took kinda long to get to and once you went down you had to hit a huge cat walk all the way back to the lift... but this bowl was the lest ridden so if it hasnt snowed in a few days id recomend making the journy over to teh siberia bowl for some fresh snow. some of my favorite runs were lover's leap, dragon's teeth, and the headwall.

"A powder day in the backcountry"
Above is a picture of Vail´s Blue Sky Basin on a powder day in February 2000. The night before about 2 feet of dry snow came down. The next morning one of the best snowboard days of my live started. After marking my own tracks in the deep snow of Vail´s back bowls I headed to the Blue Sky Basin. A new area that just opened a couple of weeks before. A lot of crazy runs with untouched powder through the trees. Boarders and skiers heaven! Try the run called "Deep and Steep".
