If you've never skied before or if you're not that confident with your ski skills, take the ski school classes. It's only $135 for 3 days of ski school which includes lift tickets and ski rentals for all 3 days. The office is at the foot of the gondola. the beautiful powdery snow! (and falling down in it!)
There is a gold mine in Idaho Springs called Arco. It has a tunnel mine going back 4 1/2 miles, and also a museum, and gift shop and mill that processes the ore. It is a nice visits and not too far to the east. Another mine called is just south of Idaho Springs and a working mine used today. Entrey is $10 for adults.
Larkspur's is an epicurian delight. We had a special tour of the wine cellar...couldn't believe the selection! The food was superb as was the service. It's a nice size restaurant with neuvo decor...imaginative creations by the chef. Don't miss it. You won't be sorry.
Vail Mountain has world class skiing in the winter. Ski season begins late in November, depending on the snowfall and ends in April or May.
In the summer, the chairlift and gondola operate to take you to the top of the mountain. There are also hiking and biking trails open during the summer months
The area here is so large you can find a suitable run for anyone. The snow was good, though we didn't get many powder days in our 2 weeks, but what was there was good and stuck around for a long time.
