Inexpensive, but great
A walk or a 2 minute shuttle ride away from the Winter Park base area you can stay in a very nice hotel with great outdoor hot tub, pool, sauna (indoor), an on-site ski shop. A pet-friendly place also is a home to a "Tipper" place - a decent restaurnat (see my other tip).
Unique Quality: A second stop of the "Park-and-Ride" shuttle. Do not take regular "colors" shuttles that go around other hotels before stopping at base area: The Vintage's extended parking lot happens to be a "park-and-ride" lot, with very quick ride to base are.
