Hilton Garden Inn Mystic Groton

A new hotel with great location

I do prefer the Hilton Garden Inn to the Hampton Inn's when doing our roadtrips, but the price difference is sometimes quite significant, something we try very hard to keep down, since our stay is usually just a quick over night.

With that said, we were lucky during this particular roadtrip, this Hilton Garden Inn had recently opened and the prices were very reasonable. We were heading to Mohegan Sun and we also needed another Hilton stay, so this hotel was a good choice.

I really like the room layout and the bed at the Hilton Garden Inn's over the Hampton's. The beds are more comfortable and the room more cheery.

Our stay here was quite pleasant, we arrived a little later than usual during a snowy night and the parking lot was a bit empty. The hotel is quite nice with a large entrance and front desk as well as nice sitting areas with a central fireplace.

We were greeted warmly and even given a freshly baked cookie, which was a nice treat since it was quite cold out.

Our room was ready and we quickly made our way to the elevator. On our way to our room we ran across a bunch of kids in their bathing suits running around the corridor without any supervision, but we didn't hear them up on our floor.

The room was a good size with a comfy king bed and soft covers, a chair and ottoman, a writing desk and ergonamic chair, a small microwave and fridge and the coffe maker was located on the microwave cart. The room also had a nice flat screen tv.

Unique Quality: The king bed is always a welcome relief to us, with the comfy sheets and covers, the writing desk with free internet so Ferni can do some work orders while we are away is always an added bonus. We also had a microwave and fridge which can come in handy and I enjoy making myself a cup of coffee in the morning before getting breakfast. The hotel has an indoor pool which we didn't venture to check out as there were plenty of kids running in and out of it...there is also a gym and a business center.
