Getting around in Mystic

by MASPAB

If we arrive in Mystic by train how easy is it to get around without our own car, probably staying at hampton inn

Re: Getting around in Mystic

by Bunsch

You'd be doing quite a bit of walking if you want to get into the main part of Mystic or cross to West Mystic or Noank. I don't think the Hampton Inn has bicycles, but there is undoubtedly a place to rent them in town. We thoroughly enjoyed biking around the coastal area for several hours one afternoon.

Travel Tips for Mystic

Cap'n Long John Eggerton

by kaloz

A crew is only as good as it's leader, and Cap'n John is an able seaman with a lust for adventure and riches. Tested by the sea and the winds, and having taken a shot across the bow from the Spanish frigates, he knows these waters and we will soon find adventure. We say good-bye to the landsmen and lubbers, and the towns children of the town look on with longing faces as we haul our canvas and head out into the sea.

Visit the village to get a feeling of what life was like in a New England seaside town. Being in the small chapel and reflecting on the faith and strength needed to live in a time where weather played such a strong part in one's livelihood, well-being and life.

A sudden storm could upset the shipping routes, take lives and devistate the community.

That small church made me understand better how important it must have been as a source of comfort and hope to the locals.

Treasure!

by kaloz

The clue leads us to Block Island to a cemetary! We search out a certain grave where lies our prize! Now manys a-feared of the spirits that linger in them boneyards, but we are going there soon enough ourselves, it's too bad for them that sleeps, but there's stories on the markers, and many thats gone before. Ahoy, comes the cry, and we find a lock box. The key from our parcel in Sag Harbour reveils the gold within, riches beyond belief!! To the grog shop, the Oar bar go we, and maky tankards are poured. Singing and dancing the hornpipe we are a merry crew. Tomorrow may find us dead, but tonight we are alive!

Packing Light

We are normally at Mystic for one day or for a quick overnight stay, so just a simple duffle bag or rollaboard will do. Comfortable shoes for walking around the various Mystic attractions. Shampoo, hair gel, toothbrush, paste, contact lenses, contact solution, deodorant, razor, shaving cream, and lotion. My digital camera and video camera Bring an umbrella...you never know....

Good Diner Food

by cjg1 about Equinox Diner

The Equinox Diner is a good stop to grab a bit to eat when passing through Mystic on the way North or South or if you are visiting Mystic for the day. The diner is relatively new and is a large space. Inside the diner there are many booths and tables in funky shades of blue, green and yellow...it does feel like an old school diner. The menu has the typical diner fare with some interesting blue plate specials. Our first trip here was for breakfast. We were seated rather quickly at a nice booth and handed menus. I knew I wanted a hot chocolate and Liz had a club soda with lime. It was tough to decide what I wanted but I eventually decided to have the Eggs Benedict. Liz decided to have the Belgian Waffles with Cinamon Apples. Our food came in record time and the portions were plentiful. I loved my eggs and enjoyed the Hollandaise sauce. Liz loved her waffled and finished the whole thing. The food here is good and the service was on the spot so this will definitely be a place to return. The Eggs Benedict was very good.
