He also revolutionized the production of the product, using many small buildings for each step of the process. The idea was to separate the volatile ingredients until the end as a way of reducing inadvertent explosions and avoiding total destruction in case something went wrong.
His plant anticipated unwanted explosions, too. The buildings are constructed with three heavy stone walls, one flimsy wooden wall and slanted (shed) roofs facing the river. Dover officials have signed an agreement to hire professional deer hunters to kill does in the area (as well as in other spots in the state) in order to help manage the growing deer populations which are getting into highways and residential areas and causing problems.
They plan to kill the does after the start of the breeding season in order to also check the fetuses to see the distribution of healthy off-spring and the distribution of the sexes.
We had a similar program in Rochester, NY and it did very little to stem the deer growth. Nature eventually fixed the problem with two extreme winters that decimated the deer population.
Dover AFB is home to the 436th Airlift Wing, known as the "Eagle Wing" and the 512th Airlift Wing, an Air Force Reserve associate referred to as the "Liberty Wing." The Dover Team’s mission is to provide strategic global airlift capability. In order to accomplish our mission, Dover AFB also houses the world’s largest aerial port, which moves more cargo than Federal Express and UPS combined. The port mortuary is the largest in the Department of Defense and plays a vital role as a place of honor where the remains of DOD personnel killed overseas are received.
The Bay in Little Creek, five miles out of Dover is very beautiful, but don't go in the summer unless you really, and I mean REALLY, like horeshoe crabs. The best time to go down and see the bay is in the earlly spring or late fall. Bring a jacket!
