Holiday Inn Select, Claymont DELAWARE: 15 minutes from three states
High rise, nice resturant inside, another across the street. Out door seasonal pool.
Inside is a restaurant with a pretty nice, pretty cheap all you can eat breakfast.
It is close to everywhere. 15 minutes from Philadelphia, PA Airport, Museums, Center City. 15 minutes another direction puts you in New Jersey, day trips could include Atlantic City, Cape May, NJ Aquarium. 20 minutes on 95 south puts you in Maryland. You can literally do 4 states in one day from this home base. New York or Washington DC are approx. two hours from this hotel.

This is the state park where we have camped for years! While lacking in privacy (campsites are tightly packed) and lacking in shade (open on the beach - absolutely no shade!!!) - this still remains a favorite! The beach is great, the fishing is usually good, its near to CapeMay-Lewes ferry for a change of scene, near the outlets...its just a nice place to take a break, at very low cost!
There are actually three sections - the New Camp has hook-ups for RVs, the old camp has no hookups but really nice bathhouses, and the overflow camp...well thats just a parking area, but we like it better than the other areas...less noise than the RVs with their electric power air conditioning etc, and much roomier campsites because there isn't as much demand for the primitive facilities. BTW, you have to have a self-contained RV (pop-ups are OK), to stay in the overfow lot. The old Camp is great for tents.

Sand In My Shoes: Sand In My Shoes
priced so all can enjoy without putting too much of a dent in your vacation budget; hot tub; each guest room has a refrigerator in it; fun overtones, such as finding a rubber hand sticking out from under the bedskirt or a rubber foot at the bottom of the window drapery.

The Terry House: The Terry House
$90USD, incl. tax
Don't stay here if you value authenticity, friendly service, or healthy food...
This B&B is on the main street in Newcastle. We stayed there after reading the entry in Lonely Planet, but things have changed since that was written (in 1998). Although the structure itself is grand, the proprietor has let the interior get out of hand, and the place hasn't been dusted, polished, or otherwise cleaned in ages. The room we stayed in was a mixture of period furniture, metal shelving, and junk.

We have a motorhome, and enjoy spending time at Killen's Pond, one of the the Delaware State Parks.
They do not take reservations, first come.
Lots of trees, especially quiet in the spring and fall when there aren't many tourists.

Days Inn Wilmington: Convenient Budget Accommodations in Wilmington
This property is one that appears as the best deal for Wilmington on services such as Hotwire, Hotels.com/.ca, and Expedia.com/.ca.
This is a decent basic property that good for sleeping only. It's very convenient to shopping and other amenities without being in the downtown business core.
One draw back is that it's a motel style property with exterior suite doors. While the area is very safe, guests may be turned off by this.
For a budget property, they do offer free high-speed wireless Internet. That's a nice plus.
