Thanksgiving dinner
by kmehuron
Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant in the Apopka area that would have a nice Thanksgiving dinner?

I'm not sure that a lot of restaurants in Apopka would be open for Thanksgiving dinner. Down the road is Altamonte Springs, perhaps Seasons 52 will be open. Not sure. The theme parks area which you can get to pretty easily now via the 429 always has special thanksgiving offerings.
Travel Tips for Apopka

Visit the natural springs. Rock Springs State Park is located in Apopka and offers a day of fun, camping, canoeing and picnicing. If you're there in the Spring time catch the Art and Foliage Festival, Summertime offers the Zellwood Sweet Corn Festival and Winter time you have the Parade and winter carnivals. I miss the Saturday morning Christmas Parades. All the children in their costumes and the parents on the sidewalks watching. The bands in their uniforms playing the holiday music, the hometown atmosphere and the friendly smiles of everyone you pass.

Lake Apopka. One of the largest lakes in central Florida, but goes unnoticed because of its location and the inability to provide tourists with the desire to swim, boat, or water ski. Lake Apopka is the man source of water for the farming community that is so vital to the city's economy. Long before I can remember, Lake Apopka has been considered a 'dead lake'. Although the lake has given new material for theories in recent scientific studies, no one has been able to bring the life of the lake back. It is a beautiful lake and can be viewed best just off of SR 441 on Apopka Vineland Rd.

"apopka"
apopka florida is known as the "indoor follage capital of the world". apopka grows most of the ferns used in floral arrangements used around the united states. the area around apopka was first inhabited by the timucaun indians about 7500 BC. in the 1600's spanish settlers had a settlement here. later there was a seminole village on lake ahapokia (lake apopka). the seminoles were driven out of the area in the 1830's during the second seminole war. in 1842 western european settlers came to apopka and the town of apopka was incorporated in 1882. today the economy of apopka is based on farming and is becoming a part of the orlando urban sprawl. to the tourist to the orlando area apopka has a beautiful county park to offer. kelly park just six miles north of downtown apopka is worth a visit. this park is the headwater of the rock springs run which a wonderful place to swim, canoe, camp, and enjoy an area untouched by the orlando urban sprawl. see my kelly park (rock springs) tips for more information.

Apopka, Florida is known as "The indoor foliage capitol of the world". A small and diverse community, with lots to offer those who live there and those who are just visiting. From the Art and Foliage Festival in spring, to the Annual Christmas Parade there is a lot of community building events that help make your trip personal and memorable.
