Take a map with you. Many people think Brandon is limited to State Road 60 (Brandon Blvd.). This is far from the truth. You need to take a map with you to locate things within Brandon. A good phone book also helps. When we first moved to Brandon, we couldn't believe how low the Crime Rate was. We are from the Midwest, and the crime rates up there are SIGNIFICANTLY higher. We also couldn't believe how laid back life is down here.
Two essential things you must have in Brandon..............an umbrella and sunscreen.
While this sounds somewhat illogical, this is how the weather works in Brandon. When the sun is out, it is scorching. UV indexes are typically 10 to 11 or higher! But, because of the seabreeze fronts, which are typical during the rainy summer months, you can have thunderstorms blow in during the afternoon and evening hours without much notice. And they can be very heavy and very dangerous at times.
