Stayed at the Pelican Pointe 3-26-06/3/31/06. We stayed there twice before under different owners. Good location directly across from beautiful Clearwater beach and close to Pier 60 and many restaurants. Many of the surrounding hotels have been torn down and are being replaced by high end condos. I imagine that this hotel will probably follow. It appears that maintenance is done at a minimum. The housekeeper did her best to convince us that we didn't need housekeeping on a daily basis. One day no one showed up. The bathroom sink was almost plugged but was repaired 3 days after I told the front desk. It took 2 days to get an extra pillow. I did empty the bathroom waste basket myself. We had to ask for toiletries - soap, cups and shampoo. The staff was very friendly and the pool and surrounding area was nice. This is a solid 2 star hotel. We paid $130 per night - not bad for the area and the season. If you know that this is not a luxury facility and you want to stay at the beach its OK
Nice Place, Good Location

We stayed at Pelican Pointe for a Saturday and Sunday in late January, pre-high-season. Hotel was well maintained, staff was very accomodating, and pool water was heated and very nice. We heard no outside noises, but friends who were staying in another guest room in the hotel complained about the noise transmitting through the walls from an adjacent room, saying it sounded as if the drywall was virtually non-existent. The hotel is across the street from the gulf beach, and is within walking distance of restaurants and shops. The happenin' party spots are also a short walk in either direction, so be advised if you are sensitive to late-night noise.
Very nice surprise

Wanted to take a last minute vacation on a budget with the family and we decided on Clearwater which we love from previous trips. Most hotels were booked or too expensive so we found Pelican pointe on expedia. We wanted a clean localized hotel to stay and that was it. The service was very good and basically all you had to do was cross the street and Clearwater beach was right there. Kids enjoyed the pool which was not crowed at all. Overall for the price the place and room was well kept and main thing it was clean. Weve been to other places were beds, sheets, and bathrooms were in bad shape. Cleanliness is most important to us as well as a good place to sleep. Everything was pretty much within walking distance from our room. I highly recommend it for those on a budget that want to be right there.
Good location, nice Motel

We just returned from a 4 night stay in Clearwater Beach. I did quite a bit of research on hotels, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Pelican Pointe. I would not call it a "resort" since its only amenity is a heated pool. It does not have the amentities you would typically find in a resort, but it's a nice motel. Our room had a mini-kitchen and a seperate sleeping area. I wouldn't pay the upgrade for the gulf-view since the towering condos across the street block much of the view of the gulf. Opt for pool view and save some money. The motel is located in a great location-close to beach access, the pier, lots of restaurants and night life. Overall, a nice place to stay.
Great room, Perfect location

The Pelican Pointe resort was perfectly located for us. We could just walk across the street to the beach or next door for some great Greek food, breakfast or pizza.
I highly recommend room 418. Because it's on the top floor and on the corner it seemed quieter than the rooms our friends were staying in. And more spacious too because of the windows on 2 sides of the room. It seems to have been recently renovated with new furniture & tile floors. Note - this unit also has a pull-out futon sofa which fit our 2 kids quite nicely.
We were able to save some $$ because of the kitchenette for breakfast, throwing together sandwiches or snacks.
You'll love this place! I felt like it was a great value for the price & what you get.

The best thing about Pelican Pointe is the location - easy walking distance to everything. Otherwise, it's your standard 60's era motel. As a travel agent, I was surprised they gave us the worst room in the house. It was around the back with no balcony, nowhere to even sit outside. The blinds over the windows would not open. The back parking lots were nothing to look at but we would have enjoyed the sunshine.
We were gone most of one day and came back to our room in the evening with it never being touched or cleaned. They gave us some clean towels at the front desk but offered not the slightest apology or compensation. Instead, they turned into raving --- when my wife's nipple accidentally showed from her hastily put on swimsuit top when she went back downstairs to get the towels we should have had. Here she was, an embarrassed, paying customer, and the these women were yelling at her, bringing people out of their rooms to see what the commotion was.
I will never be recommending this hotel.
Fun, friendly motel in Clearwater Beach

For what it is -- a very nice comfortable upscale motel, I would give Pelican Pointe high marks.
To respond to the prior reviewers' noise complaints, I will say that in our 3 nights there (including Friday/Saturday nites) we were not disturbed by noise at all, even though we were right on the main strip on the beach. We had a pool view room on the second floor next to the elevator -- even though initally concerned about the potential of noise from the elevator, there was none, and we had the advantage of only having neighbors on one side.
The beds were extremely comfortable, which of course is quite subjective. For me, a bed must be very firm to be comfortable and initially the bed seemed too soft and cushiony. However, it did provide good support and I slept extremely well.
The room is large, with a separate sitting area and small kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator. The rooms are kept immaculately clean. The bathroom was fine -- great shower/water pressure, good lighting, lots of towels.
Staff here is lovely. Every one of the women at the front desk was friendly and helpful.
The rooms are large, with hi end motel decor. Very comfortable and relatively new. The pool was small, but who cares you are right across the street from a gorgeous beach!
No breakfast at the hotel, but walk a block to a family Greek restaurant for a good cheap breakfast (better and cheaper than the Waffle House). For dinner, try Jimmy's Fishhouse or Bret's Cafe.
We had a great little Florida vacation here!
Clean but noisy

This place is very clean and appears to have recently been remodeled. The location is pretty good, a short walk to almost everything. If you want a good night sleep think twice about this place. The walls must be paper thin because you will hear every sound made by the other guests. Not that others were loud, they weren't. It is just this place is a noise conductor.
Noisy and Dirty

We were advised on arrival that if there is a lot of noise (due to Spring Break guests) to let front desk know as they are happy to kick out rowdy guests. Receptionist then went on to talk about how bad it had been the previous week.....Not a great welcome!
Bathroom walls had lots of hair stuck to them and the surfaces were never cleaned again during our 5 night stay. Swimming pool was constantly overcrowded with kids and alcohol so never ventured near. Would we return? NO!
Enjoyed our stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pelican Point. The receiption staff were friendly and helpfull. Our room (number 225) was in a fantastic location. We were able to enjoy the views over the pool plus had the extra patio space just outside our door where we could sit and enjoy the scenery.
Inside again was set out better than some of the other units. Having the kitchen/Diining area near the picture window gave us the benefit of enjoying the views.
Recently refurbished the unit was well furnished and the beds were comfortable.
The location was brilliant.
