Very good quick stay
by TripAdvisor Member fbosticky
After incorrectly booking our accommodation we had to find a place to stay. We drove past the Luna Sea and pulled in. For $65 (incl tax) we had a clean room, a comfy bed and a very nice breakfast. I would be tempted to stay again.
Love the Luna Sea!!!!!

We stay at the Luna Sea before going on Disney Cruises and LOVE IT! Our first stay was a last minute panic and found due to great reviews on TripAdvisor.
Compentent, friendly front office and cleaning staff. Clean spacious rooms. Some rooms have kitchens. Nice little pool. Washer/dryer upstairs. Wireless Internet.
You can tell its family-run.
We'll stay here again and recommend it to our friends. :)

Comfy, Friendly, Good, Plain

Once again, I am so glad we can check with other Tripadvisor reviews before travelling - the Luna Sea was much as we expected - quiet, pleasant, easy to find, clean, comfortable, all for a good price.
The sink in the bathroom was a big pedestal that was extra-nice, and I very much appreciated the Luna Sea's planet-friendly towel policy of re-use it if you're willing, drop it on the floor if you want clean ones.
The desk clerk was extremely friendly and helpful. She had not lived there long but had learned quite a bit about the community and was able to direct us to the restaurant and stores we wanted. The young man who checked us out was also friendly, polite, conversant.
Breakfast was ordinary but fine, and the breakfast area was decorated and furnished in an inviting and pleasant manner. La Fiesta in Cape Canaveral was fairly good Mexican and the portions there are huge.
Ron Jon's is abyssmal self-aggrandizement, with overpriced goods all available only if you are willing to have "Ron Jon's" emblazoned on each and every piece.
Cocoa Beach Surf Company was much nicer, and bless the young man there who told us where the manatees were congregating - we got to quietly watch 23 mamas and babies for half an hour before other people started arriving, talking loudly, and drove them away.
If you want to get to the beach, it doesn't matter much where you stay in Cocoa Beach, since this strand island ranges from 2 to 5 blocks wide - all beaches are within easy walking distance for the average person.
The lobby of the Luna Sea has a very useful map covering several towns and showing many of the attractions, hotels, restaurants and shops, as well as having pamphlets of various things to do in the area.
One of our purposes in staying in Cocoa Beach was to visit Merritt Island NWR. It would probably have been more useful for us to stay farther north since it's a bit of a schlep to the refuge from Cocoa Beach, but the refuge itself was (and I am not prone to caps) WONDERFUL and AMAZING: every crane, heron and stork you can think of, gators, otters, and lovely, marshy views everywhere. I'd be tempted to stay in Titusville if this were my only destination, but Cocoa Beach is nicer and has the advantage of lots more / better beach.
Although there was nothing spectacular about it, the Luna Sea was solidly good in every aspect and we would gladly stay there again.
Pleasant Little Hotel Not Without Faults But Good Overall
by TripAdvisor Member BMS27
Last minute booking only 2 days before departure so chose this hotel based on excellent reviews. Whilst I can see the charm and value of this hotel and we did have an excellent time there, we are used to staying in big chain hotels and therefore we missed out on some of the fundamental basics you get with a bigger chain ie safe deposit boxes, extended check out, etc. We stayed a full week and found it difficult with passports and large quantities on money and credit cards..staff could offer no solution to help us. Similarly on last day check out was 11am but because we had stayed a week they allowed us till 11.30am (yippe dee, a whole half hour). We were not flying until the evening but they would not extend and in fact at 11.28 we loaded up the car and when we went back up to final check the room our electronic keys had been disabled!!! As it was 78 degrees and we were flying home to snow it was difficult for us not to have anywhere to change our clothes but they would not budge on this one. It is an old style american motel style 2 storey L shaped block on a very busy road altho should be said we did not get disturbed with traffic...however the hotel is on the wrong side of road for beach and you have to walk 0.3 mile one way or 0.6 mile the other to find a pedestrian crossing and then you have to walk a couple of blocks and then find a public access walkway to the beach...not a problem if you have a car. You literally drive up to your front door and park outside but then so does everyone from the 2nd floor. I found we had to have the curtains closed on the first morning for privacy. We initially booked into standard room with a fridge and microwave and was slightly disappointed as nothing whatsoever to make a hot drink so we had to go out and buy kettle, mugs etc late at night. Room was immaculate and bathroom clearly brand new. However, when the rooms next door flush the toilet or take a shower it is like a boeing 747 taking off in room and the fridge which is about 2 feet from bed rattled on and off all through the night so we did not get much sleep. Next day I asked to be upgraded to a suite with full kitchen and they were extremely helpful giving me keys to view rooms. In the end we had probably the best room 202 which is above the reception area and has one wall on the main road (although not disturbed by road noise). It was huge, had 2 leather sofas, huge bed, full kitchen with dishwasher, oven, hob, fridge/freezer, blender, coffee machine, iron & board, tiled white floor (other rooms had dark carpets). Had newish bathroom and had doors on the closets (basic rooms do not). Only one room to the right so no passing guests all the time. Remote controlled light and fan above bed. None of the rooms in this motel have any opening windows although they do have air con units which were v good. Excellent room, very clean, bit rickety in places...kitchen doors dropping, kettle rusty, bathroom door did not close nor did the closet doors and toilet overflowed one day but on the whole very good. Good free breakfast and free tea and coffee all day. Pool is lovely and clean and new furniture etc but it is in the middle of car park which was strange at first but then we got used to it. There is building site next door but to be honest we did not hear any noise from this. Met some wonderful americans staying there who stay there same weeks every year and thoroughly recommend it. We would def stay there again but not for long stay because of the lack of safe. Although sounds like we are being picky we are not, just stating how it actually was for us. I did not see any benefits of it being 'family owned' because what you get you can get anywhere (ie free beach towels, free breakfast, free wifi internet) but some of the bigger chain hotels in the area gave much more ie free sun loungers for beach, transportation in the area/to airport for very little extra in cost. Note basic rooms were $94 but remember you have to added further 11% tax on to that...because we upgraded and because of the sales tax we ended up paying $890 (£550) for the week which made it a bit expensive for what it is. Having said all that WE LOVED IT despite its shortfalls!!!

Second time at this hotel, clean , quiet, staff very helpful and enjoyed a free continental breakfast daily. Pool was also, very clean and enjoyed the serenity of the stay. Close to restaurants and shopping. Will definitely stay there again and again.
Good motel for the money
by TripAdvisor Member sallywallygal
We stayed at the Luna Sea prior to our Bahamas cruise. We chose it based on the good reviews and the reasonable price. The room was basic, but clean. There were two extra long double beds. We are tall, so we appreciated the extra length. The beach is across the street, but the beach access is about a block down the street and then thru a park - probably about 1/4 of a mile walk. We drove to the park and had to pay $5 for parking. Didn't get to use the pool, but it looked nice. Would stay here again.
Exactly as described

This is a small older motel that appears to have been recently renovated. The rooms were clean, small and had a dorm size refrigerator, freezer, and microwave. There is a 7-11 next door which is convenient for sodas and snacks. Breakfast daily consisted of bagels, a variety of breads, cerals, rolls, yogurt, fruit, juice, milk and coffee. The bathroom appears to have been recently redone and had a tile floor, hairdryer, tub and shower. Our room featured two double beds that wer adequate in size and comfort. The air conditioner was on the wall and you controlled the temperature. I will say the entire time we were there (Thur-Sun) we heard no outside noises and it was very quiet. In the parking lot there was a nice pool with many chairs and tables (no hot tub). The pool was never crowded, but with an ocean nearby who needs a pool? The beach access was about a half mile walk. We generally drove and parked at the meters which were 25 cents per 15 minutes. There was always ample parking. The front desk was very helpful. The "game library" included a few board game and old books and the grilling area had two old charcoal style grills. All in all it was perfect for what we neede: a clean, comfortable, quiet, safe and inexpensive place to spend the night.
a wonderfull vacation that i will always remember

My wife and i went to florida during the 2 weeks of the forth of july.
We were going to go to the gulf but decided to go to the atlantic side due to the shuttle lift off.
When we came into cocoa beach, we saw their sign had vacancy and were really happy to find a place, so i told my wife dont expect a lot its a motel, although it looks nice from the outside.
When we got our room i was pleasently suprised, its as good inside as outside.
The outside border by the side walks on the street were so well manicured and landscaped, it was like a tropical paradise, then all inside its like a tropical garden, and the pool area is surrounded by palm trees.
Its absolutly beautiful.
The room was great as well, and the service was good, refreashed towels, etc.
We didn't have to ask for anything, except for what to do around the area, and where things were, and they were freindly and not bothered by my asking about things 4 or 5 times a day.(I had never been around that side of florida before).
My wife and i were only going to stay for a night.
We ended up staying three, we loved it so much.
I highly recomend this place!
