~ Crestview, Florida ~
Florida is not a place one might expect to find a town perched amid small foothills. Nevertheless, a drive along Interstate 10 through the Florida Panhandle takes travelers by such a place. The small city of Crestview is located in the Florida Panhandle about an hour east of Pensacola. It is also located in the same county as Ft. Walton Beach. Despite its proximity to two locations noted for their beautiful, white sand beaches along the Gulf of Mexico, the hilly landscape surrounding Crestview looks like it belongs in middle Georgia or Alabama. While the incorporated town is technically a few miles to the north, several restaurants, hotels, and houses are located near the town’s main exit. In fact, travelers may want to note that the Crestview exit seems to have the largest concentration of restaurants along I-10 between Pensacola and Tallahassee. It is in this area that we stopped at a Cracker Barrel for dinner during a marathon drive home from Arkansas to Jacksonville.
