Some of these reviews can be misleading. Me my wife and two children stayed at the Plaza Ocean Club hotel from June 1 - June 4. I don't remember exactly how we had heard about the hotel when making reservations but did so remembering Daytona from 15 years ago as being a party town and the chances of getting a decent room was like a role of the dice. We went with the mind set that we would be spending most of the time on the beach so we were willing to take what we got. However after reading the reviews we were close to changing hotels about a week before our stay but couldn't find any vacancies that would accomodate our dates so we went with what we had. The hotel lobby was extremely clean and the front desk staff was very friendly. After we had checked in and handed the room keys, we questioned to confirm that we were staying in a non-smoking room and the guy apologized that he had put us in a smoking room and promprtly moved us and upgraded the room. The hotel was packed, but the staff was clearly working hard to keep the facility clean and did an excellent job at doing so. We will definately stay at this hotel during our next trip to Daytona. No complaints from us. I will say they only had two elevators and with the hotel being packed we did have to wait longer than usual but it was not excessive.

RUN! First, a list of the "we don't haves" 1. Parking (that is $5.00 a day more and there is a 20 car lot for 10 floors of guests) 2. No valet (prob because there is no where to park) 3. Bell hop. 4. Clean rooms, the maids DO NOT CLEAN we were ate up by bed bugs!!!!!!!!!! 5. Room service. 6. Fresh bedding. Our box springs had molded vomit on them. The staff does not care what you need or want. The whole place smells. The fire equipement was missing. How can the health department allow this place to operate????? And if you want to check out there is a fee of 30 dollars......

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in Daytona Beach and the staff was friendly, our room was clean and the pool was average. I knew this hotel was not a 5 star deal so I couldnt be "disgusted". I read everyone else's reviews and I was scared to death when we got there. I called ahead of time to check up on everything, to make sure they had our reservation correctly entered. The bed was HARD and very UNCONFORTABLE, we both woke up with back aches every night! The week we stayed was the coldest week Florida had seen in years and the heaters in the room did not get very warm at all, but after we talked to the front desk, an engineer came up to our room in minutes, he couldnt fix the heater and actually told us that all of the heaters in the hotel wouldnt get hot. One night we came back to our rooms and this couple down the hall were drunk and they couldnt find their door key so the man says, "I got to pee" and then he took it out and urinated all over the carpet and the door in front of his room. I couldnt believe it. A lot of these complaints are about vomiting and urine throughout common areas of the hotel, I know it is managements responsibility to take care of vomit and urine but it should start with the guests too!

I went there for spring break, so nothing that they advertised was in the room (coffee maker, ironing board, hair dryer, not even the clock radio!). However, we did get a coffee maker upon request. All of the balconies were locked, and there was security sitting in the hallway treating everyone like 12 year olds. It was like living in the freshman dorms all over again. Save your money, go somewhere where you will be welcomed.

I dont understand what is wrong with people these days?? No one is ever statisfied, there is nothing wrong with the plaza, If you go on vacation is to have fun not sit there and complian about every little thing There is nothing wrong with the building there is something wrong with the person. It sound to me that everyone writes there comment on here to see if they can get somthing for free. Sorry that is not the how it works!!! If you read the comment that some peolpe write "I read the comments But thought how bad could it be" If I was to read bad comment the only other thing to do is not go...Duh!!!! I think that if you want a 5 star resort then go there and stop expecting so much from a cheaper hotel..... Its cheaper for a reason!!!!

I had a stressful day and wanted to give my self a treat. I checked in to the plaza ocean resort and I will never forget that experience. I met so many wonderful people that enlightened my day. I ate a delicious dinner ,and had my favorite drink. I went walking on the beach for aleast an hour to relieve stress; oh god how I loved that idea. I went to bed wrap in a beautiful blanket dreaming a of my husband . I thank you so kindly for the opprotunity that I would like to stay there one more time

Being fairly local to Daytona Beach (45 mins), my husband and I stayed here one night as a belated anniversary night out. I hadn't expected much after seeing some negative reviews here, but the price worked for us and we knew it was under new management, so thought we'd give it a shot.
I have to say I was MUCH happier than what I had set myself up to be after reading the reviews online. Sure, the hotel's a little older and needs some upgrades, but the new owners or managers (or whatever)seem to be working very hard to compete with the more upscale hotels in the area, while still not charging the 5 star pricetag! All rooms have an oceanview. Granted, some are limited views, but it's right ON the beach, so get out of your room and go downstairs if you need to see more. You can't beat the location to catch a sunrise!
Our room was clean with no bugs, mold, or other comments you may read about here. The EXTREMELY comfortable king size bed spoiled me -- it was the best night's sleep I'd had in a long time!
The pool and pool deck was clean and large. We had NO problems with parking, although it was a little crowded. But it was free, not $5 as stated in another post. (Maybe that guest didn't get her rearview mirror tag).
We did not try the restaurant on-site, since we knew of area restaurants, plus there's a IHOP right across the street for breakfast, so we just went there. We also got a free pass to the waterpark down the street with our room.
Overall, this place is worth staying at and don't concern yourself with OLD posts.

went there with my parents and two children . the rooms werent too bad the only thing was they consider a kitchen a sink and microwave and a dorm size fridge. no toaster thank God for a coffee pot. the only complaints that we really had was we were there the same time that about 400 kids were there from some churchs and when they were done with their meetings they went wild and took over the pool and we had to get out and I do mean took over the pool abot 150 of them . when I went to complain one guy stated that something needed to be done before someone got hurt and another guy said that there was nothing he could do because the was no rule of how many people to be in the pool, well better read his outside sign by the pool deck only 65 people allowed in the pool. when we tried to get a elevator it was always full of kids. they were very rude wouldn't move to let you on and off the elevator nasty mouths. the morning we decided to leave I got up at 5:30 and planned to be gone by 7:00 and it was 9:00 before we got out of there and my mother told one of the kids supervisors that they had the rudest kids ever and they guy stated THANK YOU let me tell you if that was the kids from our church the parents would have had to come and get them. so we figured that the kids supervisors really didn't care because as long as they are out of their hair and they got a nice vacation out of the deal who cares so if you are from one of these churchs friom Georgia or North Carolina you better check into who takes care of these kids because when I was out that morning there was a young girl roaming around by herself outside in the back parking lot.

We stayed here in June 2006. The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to some great restaurants and shopping. The rooms were clean with a nice ocean view, and the staff brought us anything we requested. The pool is nice right on the ocean, with a pool side bar. The hotel does claim a heated pool however and I would disagree with the heated part, it was cold when we arrived. Overall I thought this hotel was a good value and we would stay here again.
