beach accomodations in hollywood
will be arriving in fort lauderdale/hollywood on august 11th for a week and would like to stay on hollywood beach. any good hotel/motel recommendations?? i looked at a lot of motels in fort lauderdale recently (mostly between oakland park blvd. and commercial blvd. on AIA and was appalled at how many of them were damp, dark, dank and expensive. would like a bright, cheerful place on or very near the beach, clean room and bathroom, not pay more than $75 a night...
found the dream place a few years ago in fort lauderdale but it has subsequently become a male only motel and would not take my reservation (isn't that illegal?)
saw hollywood beach for the first time last year and really liked it...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...thanx...

More than you want to spend, but, RIGHT on the beach! I heard they were for sale last year so don't know what has changed, but we loved it there. Good luck!
