Great Hotel with Exceptional Personal Touch

by TripAdvisor Member Italy08

Although we didn't love Daytona Beach, we loved this hotel and chose to stay for two nights and take day trips.
Sandy Ellis, hotel mgr, adds extra personal touches that made this hotel stay extra special.
The room was very clean and the king bed was extremely comfy. The white down comforter with white duvet cover was spotless! They provided a nice size refrigerator and microwave. The breakfast selection was great. From biscuits and gravy to yogurt, fruit and juice, sure to satisfy everyone's tastes. 24 hr coffee was provided along with fresh cookies each evening at front desk. Floats and toys for pool, lounge chairs for beach were available. Just when you think they couldn't do more, each morning at the front desk were snack bags with water, fruit, snack bar and muffin to take along with you for your day trip. Exceptional hotel for the price and the extras were priceless!!

Nice place in Daytona

by TripAdvisor Member yoohootome

We wanted to stay on the beach without staying at some dive. This hotel is it... clean, friendly staff, good breakfast, nice location. It was quiet on our end of the beach (we were there off season though), and the pool was lovely. The room was clean and had plenty of space, and it had a balcony overlooking the beach. We will be going back again next year.

Great place to stay

by TripAdvisor Member IPJSIllinois

My husband and I stayed at the Hampton 10-14 for 3 nights. The outside property is well maintained. We were greeted upon arrival and
checkin was very fast as our room was available. We were told about the breakfast, cookies at 7:30 every evening and where everything was. They also explained that we had to get the beach towels at the front desk. You do have to sign them out but that's ok as I don't blame them for keeping an eye on their towels. The room was clean and
neat. Well maintained. The cabinet holding the fridge and microwave has seen better days but in all the room was very comfortable. The balconey floor was also carpeted and had 2 chairs and a table. Because this is off season it was quiet and not crowded at all as the bikers had not yet arrived for Bikefest. The pool temp was a bit too cool for me, I don't know if the pool was heated or not. Breakfast consisted of the usual juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, grits, oatmeal, yogurt, cereal, pastries, muffins, bread, bagels. Hot food was either french toast sticks and sausage or scramble eggs and sausage. I thought they had a nice variety and we were satisfied with the breakfast. And yes the parking is tight especially if you have to park in the lot to the side of the hotel but because it was not full it wasn't really a problem. It probably is during the summer and spring break. All in all we were happy and will stay there
again the next time we are in Daytona Beach. We used to stay at Palm Plaza but the owners have really let it go so it was time for a change and we are glad we did.

Satisfied REPEAT customers

by TripAdvisor Member FiliaML

We have stayed at this hotel three times (once before the hurricane forced the year-long closing of the property for renovation). Each of our stays was 6-7 days long.

Will be staying there again in about a month.

The hotel definitely meets the Hampton Inn standards (we are Diamond Club members). Rooms are large and clean, breakfast is outstanding, staff friendly * and * professional plus convenient location.

The only annoying problem is the rather limited parking area plus the considerable number of tight, poorly lit parking spots (a hassle late at night). There is an overflow parking area across the street but it is not lit.

During one of our stays a few years ago we also encountered a wireless internet connection problem--most likely due to the distance of our room from the hotel's Wireless Access Point. The staff could not 'solve' the problem but at least they tried.

Hampton Inn one of the nicest in Daytona area on the beach

by TripAdvisor Member Hoosier2

We have stayed here a couple of times. It is one of the cleanest nicest detailed hotels we have stayed at in Daytona. I guess it's true, you get what you pay for. Pleasant staff, excellent free breakfast. The only reason we didn't stay there this year, we waited too long to make our reservations. We have stayed at four different hotels here in five visits, all were okay, this is the nicest.

Happy with the Hampton

by TripAdvisor Member mlaskowski83

Our family has started a new tradition of beginning our annual January trip to central Florida with a two-night stay at the Hampton Inn. The hotel is a great place to unwind and relax while taking a break from the fast-paced roller coasters and thrills of Orlando. It's conveniently located on the beach in the quieter Daytona Beach Shores area just south of Daytona Beach and is just minutes from the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, Speedway, downtown Daytona Beach and the pier.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable which is expected when staying at a Hampton Inn. The pool area overlooks the beach and is well maintained. Parking is ample (and FREE). The staff is very friendly and courteous and more than willing to make local dining recommendations during your visit. If you're in the mood for Italian food, be sure to stop by the Porto-Fino Restaurant across the street from the hotel for delicious pasta dishes and pizza pies. Another local favorite is the Boondocks restaurant a few minutes south in nearby Wilbur by the Sea. Speaking of food, the hotel offers free breakfast each morning consisting of pastries, fruit, eggs and bacon or sausage in addition to freshly baked cookies each evening. The only missing amenity that stands out in my mind is a business center, but the free in-room high-speed wireless internet access makes up for that.

We've been fortunate enough to stay at the Hampton Inn two years in a row now and can't wait for our next visit in January. Hampton advertises its "We love having you here" slogan but, in reality, we love staying here and so will you.

Spring Break (for non-spring breakers) Stay - LOVED IT

by TripAdvisor Member tracyldale

We needed a getaway and decided to go to the other coast (being from St. Petersburg, Florida). I've had decent experiences with Hamptons, and the reviews I read on this hotel were all very accurate.

Excellent, excellent location. We were on the lower part of Daytona Beach - during Spring Break. While we did see quite a few breakers we didn't experience most of the "insanity" that ensues. This location is perfect for those needing/wanting a quiet area.

Good family hotel with a nice pool beach-side. Hot tub is okay (it worked, it was hot). Breakfast was quite adequate for being a freebie with the room rate, having a hot item and many common cold items (cereal, yogurt, etc.).

Front staff was VERY friendly and the cookies were welcome after a long drive after work.

Very clean hotel - we had an inside room - there appear to be some rooms that have outside doors.

Excellent staff, excellent stay - will definitely stay here again.

Would not stay here again

by TripAdvisor Member createlife

I am a Gold Hilton Honors member and travel for business every other week. I always stay at Hilton Brand hotels, and this was by far one of the worst experiences I have had. As I checked in, the front desk clerks were not friendly, and smiles were non-existent. I am a AAA member, and I booked this stay through Hilton.com and got a lower rate than I normally get with hotels in this area. The clerk demanded I show her my AAA card, despite the fact that I have stayed at Hampton Inns over 20 times in the last 2 months, and I never carry my AAA card with me. She insisted that if I wanted that rate, I would need to call AAA and have them fax proof that I am a member. I asked her to make an exception and she was sharply replied no.

In addition, the entire staff was unfriendly throughout my entire stay, and the internet connection was inoperable the entire time I stayed there, and when I brought it up to the staff, they didn't apologize and seemed to care less.

The room had a bad smell, and the hotel is old with very few amenities.

Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Real Ocean view

by TripAdvisor Member vacation_review_08

We stayed here because our kids wanted to play in the ocean and wanted to be on the Atlantic side. We got an 8th floor room with a partial ocean view (side) and it was perfect. Why pay for a full ocean front view, if the side will do. You get a balcony too. Sure the hotel may not be as clean as some hotels on the ocean, but again YOU are bringing the sand into the hotel and into your room. If you are just looking for hotel on the ocean where you can play in the waves this is it. It also has an outdoor pool which our kids used too. We had never heard of Daytona Beach Shores but would definitely go back to this area in the future. Again if you are looking for a 5 star hotel this is probably not it. But if you just want a pleasant hotel and to be able to enjoy your stay this is it.

Great Hotel on the Beach

by TripAdvisor Member MissMaude

Our family (two adults, one 12-year old and one 16-year old) took a trip to Disney in Orlando over July 24 - 25 2008. We wanted to visit Daytona Beach on the way back to Tennessee. My husband had always stayed at Daytona in his childhood years, so we visited Expedia to find a hotel on the beach. After reading reviews, I booked a two night stay at the Hampton Inn Daytona Beach Shores - Oceanfront.

When we arrived, exhausted after two long days of running around Disney, the front desk clerk was just placing a tray of warm cookies on the reception desk. What a greeting! We checked in and arrived at our room on the second floor, overlooking the parking lot. We called the front desk and requested a room change. We were offered a room on the 7th floor, oceanside, overlooking the pool and beach. It was wonderful! Great beds, great pillows, everything super clean and new looking.

In the morning we discovered that the breakfast bar was excellent; different cooked items were offered each day. Scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, biscuits and gravy one day, sausage and french toast another day, along with the usual bagels, muffins, cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. Coffee was terrific, too. We enjoyed poolside breakfast each day.

The pool area was immaculate, all the chairs, tables and umbrellas in excellent repair. The other guests were friendly and quiet. We enjoyed the ridiculously easy access to the beach and borrowed chairs and other items provided for guest use. We purchased a couple of beach chairs, which we donated to the pool of freebies for other guests to enjoy after we left.

At one point, we had left the top down on our convertible while we went upstairs to shower and change for dinner. A rainstorm started, and one of the front desk people called our room to let us know that we had better hurry down and put the top up. Thank goodness they let us know!

I can mention that ONE of the front desk people was not particularly friendly (stick up her butt?) but all the other employees were very warm and friendly. The computer in the lobby was on the fritz on and off, but there was an additional computer room available on the 6th floor instead.

We did not want to leave! We ended up extending our stay for an additional night and day.

I would recommend this Hampton Inn to anyone who wants to visit Daytona and enjoy clean, comfortable lodging. We plan to return next year, but likely WITHOUT the Disney visit.

This is a great place!
