defuniak springs is a small historic town in northwest florida. defuniak springs is the county seat of walton county. the town was established in the 1880's by the pensacola & atlantic and the louisville & nashville railroad companies. defuniak springs is named after fred defuniak who was the president of the louisville & nashville railroad. of interest to the tourist is defuniak springs downtown historic district, a number of historic homes, and nearby ponce de leon springs state park. defuniak springs is an interesting side trip off of I-10 in northwest florida.
