Ok! Some cultural tips? Let me think...What about... Literature!!! Poem, I saw in the reception of the hotel in Destin.
Destin, My Desteny. There is a place I found called Destin
Oh, such a beautiful sight,
We've heard of golden streets in Heaven,
But will Heaven have beaches of white?
Some day I hope to call this place my home,
Taking part in it's beauty day by day,
As long the Gulf's waters I roam,
watching the children and grown-ups play.
Mornings begin with cold breezes from ocean,
As the world seems to move at a slower pace,
It's sunsets are from an artist with brilliant motion,
And there's no fear of the new day you face.
Yes, if before I return, I'm called away,
To live in a place for eternity,
May it be paradise, I hope and pray,
Like Destin, for that is my desteny.

Harbor Docks: Best Sushi Anywhere

Harbor Docks is three restaurants in one... there is a regular menu, a Japanese Steak House menu, and a Sushi Bar. I've only eaten at the Sushi bar, but it is the best Sushi I've had anywhere, including New York, Scottsdale, Philadelphia. The sushi is fresh and imaginative.

Authentic Italian

This restaurant is very easy to miss, in fact, I lived in Destin for a year before finding it! However, its somewhat "hidden" location keeps away the tourists, and makes it more of a local joint. What I love most about this restaurant is the atmosphere. It is very quaint and romantic, and located on the water. The tables are arranged in such a way to highlight intimacy, and it's decor is very simply yet elegant.

The food is also delicious. In fact, this restaurant was brought to my attention by a friend who used to live in Italy, and kept raving about the spectacular italian food served at Cafe Italiano!

The only thing lacking in this restaurant was service. While the server was very gracious and polite, it was clear that they were understaffed. As a result, it took longer than normal to receive refills, appetizers, food, etc. However, I have not been in months, so this problem could already be fixed!

crab island

crab island is located in destin harbor near the destin-fort walton bridge. this tiny island is a very popular beach. years ago crab island was alot larger but it's size was reduced by hurricane ivan. you can take a shuttle from destin harbor walk to the island.

"Trip to FL"

i finally got to go to Florida when my aunt invited me to go with her to see her godparents. we stayed in Destin and i absolutely loved it!!! the water was so crystal clear and the weather was great; however, there were many shark attacks (including one that was fatal) the week we were there.
