Great Fishing
by Aliseeya
I'm not much of a fisherman, but the fishing in Destin is fantastic. There are many places which offer chartered fishing tips, so there's lots to choose from. Every year they have the Destin Fishing Rodeo -- sponsored by A.J.'s. There is also a Bass Pro Shop located in the Destin Commons -- which is the ultimate toystore for any outdoorsman!
While I don't really go fishing, I have been fishing a couple of times in Destin off of the jetties. Sadly, I didn't catch a thing and quickly gave up, but my husband caught some nice-sized fish.
McGuires Irish Pub
by keeweechic
McGuire's Irish Pub first opened in 1977 in a small shopping centre. McGuire cooked and tended bar and Molly waited tables and greeted customers. In 1982 McGuires moved to its Pensacola location. McGuires are now in Destin as well. After visiting the one in Pensacola, we had to try this one also. The atmosphere is truly unique. They also brew their own beer (Ale’s, Porters and Stouts) on the property, in fact you can see them doing it and ask questions and become a lone table sitter if your partner decides to get engrossed in the process. There is all the traditional Irish fare like Shepherd's Pie, Rosemary Scented Irish Lamb Stew, Irish Steak and Mushroom Pie as well as a 3/4 lb. gourmet steak burger. Their seafood comes from all over the world. The steaks are Certified Angus Corn-fed beef, never frozen and hand cut daily. They are said to be famous for serving the best steaks, seafood, burgers and Irish fare this side of Boston.
My favorite breakfast place in Destin...
by Aliseeya about IHOP!
Breakfast is my favorite meal, and since moving to Destin I have been trying to find the perfect breakfast place. Sadly, I have yet to find anything that beats IHOP - both for its food and prices.
I would love to find a quaint, local breakfast place in Destin -- if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!
