Sunset Grill is located on the Hidden Dunes property, and is a perfect break from those long, hard days at the beach.
It is located on a small pond and the tables are on a covered deck. Grouper Sandwich is awesome!
My family and I are fortunate enough to visit Destin 2 or 3 times a year. My favorite time is in the Fall, but Spring & Summer are good also.
We stay in the Hidden Dunes condos, and always have a great time. Destin has gotten much busier in the past couple of years - I guess the secret is out!
If you're looking for enjoyable beaches, Destin's sugar white shores are hard to beat!

This is one of the first restaurants I ate at after moving to Destin. It is located in the Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island. It is very big, touristy, and located almost on the beach. The food was good, but nothing too special. Their menu is typical of most seafood restaurants around Destin. It has a very convienent location, and would be perfect for lunch or dinner after a day on the beach. However, if you are looking for high quality seafood, look elsewhere.
Overall its a good place to eat at. Nothing too special about it, I haven't been back since that inital visit. But it has a fun atmosphere and is very family friendly.
The best places to surf in Destin are: on Okaloosa Island, right before the Destin bridge (ocean side, of course), and in front of the Boardwalk. If you don't have your own board, or need lessons, there are plenty of surf shops both in Destin and in downtown fort walton. In addition, most also offer kitesailing lessons and equipment.
This city's motto is "the world's luckiest fishing village" - I suppose because it's got just about everything, not just fish, although it has one of the largest deep sea sport fishing fleets in Florida. Best times to visit are Spring and Fall. The tourists descend in hordes in June thru September.
