The residence inn is a brand new hotel directly off of HWY98 in Sandestin. It looks to be a nice hotel, but you are right up against the busiest road in Destin and do have to either ride the shuttle or drive to the beach. My family and i prefer to stay along the scenic drive which is really convenient to the beach and close to Sandestin. We always use Destin Days Vacation Rentals because they have a very professional staff and they have a self check in process. All their properties are on the beach or within walking distance and they have some beautiful properties. You can view a lot of their information by going to http://www.destindays.com

a very nice side trip from destin is to the charming village of seaside. seaside is a community of replica victorian and northeastern beach homes. seaside offers a number of excellent restaurants and a beautiful gulf beach. for more information on this beautiful area of northwest florida see my grayton beach pages.
from destin take US 98 east about 20 miles to CR 30A. then take CR 30A southeast about 8 miles to seaside.

This is my hands-down FAVORITE restaurant in Destin, for so many reasons. First, the food is incredible. The menu features many cajiun and seafood dishes, all of them scrumptious. All entrees come with a house salad (which is divine!), hush puppies (usually I don't even like hush puppies -- but I LOVE theirs!), and a cajiun potato.
The atmosphere is very lively, yet elegant at the same time. And you can't beat the service. All of their servers have extensive experience in the restaurant business, which is evident by their attention to detail. It has an outdoor deck on the water, although I always eat inside. Everything is great, but my favorite is the crab cakes. I also love their tuna steak wrapped in bacon. My husband's favorite dish is blackened grouper, topped with maine lobster.
