We have been to Destin several times three to be exact. This time we are staying at Mainsail and were wanting some information on the resort good or bad.

Mainsail is a great resort. Right on the beach.... All high-rise buidling rooms have view of the water. The cottages are set back on the property, but within 5 minutes of beach.... I heard the main pool is being rebuilt, starting after Labor day this year (05). Nothing bad to say. We've stayed there one 10 days in '04. Have a week planned this year if Katrina doesn't do too much damage.
Emerald Coast's Beaches the sand here is among the whitest, cleanest and softest in the world.
The fish are always biting and the local flavor can't be beat. Families flock to the "Best Beach in the South", numerous attractions, spectacular shopping and fabulous local restaurants will keep you busy.
Bluepoint is located in the Destin Commons and is a surprisingly popular nightspot. They feature live music, great drink specials, and an unique environment. There is no dance floor - instead people mill around and socialize, or sit outside in one of the many tables. Its a great place to hang out with a bunch of your friends -- and a great place to start your night. This is one of the more "dressy" clubs in Destin. While you could literally wear shorts and flip-flops to A.J.'s, Fud's, or Baytowne Wharfe, you would feel very out of place doing so at Bluepoint. Most guys wear jeans/khaki's and a nice shirt. The girls wear dresses, skirts, and jeans.
This is what the marina looks like outside the restaurant. If you have to wait a long time for a table, this is a great place to have to wait. It's really beautiful, and I like to walk around & see where all the yachts are from.
I think everyone that visits the Gulf Coast beaches has photos like this one. Its picture perfect. However swimming here like anywhere else has its dangers if you are not careful. You need to be aware that rip currents can occur during any kind of weather from stormy to calm and anytime throughout the year.
I not only lived here at one time...I continue to visit the area often (family lives here)
Destin is also known as the ultimate tourist location...with absolutely stunning white beaches...
Twenty years ago this area was known as the Red Neck Riviera...this is definitely no longer the case...now in many ways it is the playground of the rich and famous....However, don't let that spoil your visit...Destin is also a wonderful location for all!
