Destin Seafood Festival

The Destin Seafood Festival is a yearly event held in Octobor at the Morgan Sports Center. There are 100+ art/craft booths to browse through, giving you the opportunity to support and meet many local artists. And of course there is plenty of good local seafood to eat! Last time I went I had shark on a stick, and it was quite good. They also have a "Taste of Destin" where you can taste samples of menu items from local restaurants. There is also local music and plenty of activities to keep the kids busy. There is face-painting, balloon animals, a NASCAR racetrack, puppet and magic shoes, live animals, etc.

It's a great outing for the whole family. I love going each year!

Parking tip: There are "Park and Ride" shuttles that are very convienent. Parking at the Morgan Sports Center can be a nightmare, so it's easy to park further away and take a complimentary shuttle to the festival. The Park and Ride station is located at the Emerald Coast Centre -- where Beals and Office Max is.

Barley's

Barley's is an enormous bar located on Hwy 98 in downtown Ft. Walton Beach. It's a great place to hang out with your friends and shoot some pool. There are several other bars in the same strip, making it an ideal location for bar-hopping.

Harry T's

Everything is great here. I particularly love the rolls they serve with the meal because it comes with honey butter which is something I haven't found anywhere else. I also like the spices they put on the fries. By the way, the shrimp here is quite large.

The Track

The Track is a large outdoor facility that has several fun go-cart courses, bungee jumping, and other adrenaline-pumping rides. It also has bumper boats and mini golf. The majority of the crowd consists of families and it's fun for all ages! During the summer, it is PACKED every night! It's a bit pricey, the bungee jumping and other fun rides can be as much as $20/person. However, I would reccommend checking it out; it's a great place to take the kids.

I am absolutely so glad I decided to go to Destin. It is almost indescribable. This is the epitome of the relaxing beach vacation. The crystal clear emerald waters, and sugar white sand beaches will be like nothing you have ever seen. I almost refuse to go to any other beach after visiting Destin. There is so much to do here, and some of the best seafood around. The people in Destin are so friendly, it's like visiting old friends you haven't seen in a while. Whether you are vacationing with your children or taking a romantic vacation with your honey, this is the perfect location.
