This is a small, 4-floor replica of a lighthouse built right on Fernandina Beach. The 1st floor has a sunken shower area (very nautical), a full-size bed, and a washer and dryer. The 2nd floor is a sitting area and a full function kitchen. There is a hammock and a TV/VCR, microwave, stove, fridge and silverware/pots and pans. The 3rd floor is the "Captain's Suite" bedroom in the lighthouse. It has a full-sized bed and a small bathroom with shower. The 4th floor is a sitting area for observing the ocean. There is actually a lighthouse light on this floor, although it only goes on and off for decorative purpose. Outside of the 4th floor is a 360 degree walk around porch, which is a great place to kick back with a cold brew in the late afternoon, just as the breezes rips in off the Atlantic.
It's just unlike anything you've done, basically. It's casual, roomy and different.
One of my best memories was sitting up on the 4th floor as an electrical storm moved into the Fernandina Beach area. We sat on the porch until it started raining. AFter that, we moved inside and used the all-around windows to observe the fury of a storm on the coast. Outstanding. When it turned out that we could get a better rate from Hertz by turning the car in in Fernandina Beach, I decided to come and stay at this Hampton Inn. It has very individual decor, different from most Hampton Inns that I have stayed at.
The lobby had a stairway spiraling around up to the second floor, and a fireplace with a fire in it to take off the winter chill. In the ceiling of the lobby was a clock.
Their pool was on the second floor (as was the breakfast area with the 50+ item breakfast buffet and the large screen TV). We could look down from our room (which was in the back) onto the pool and out onto the marina. They have an workout room with four TVs and a scale.
They provide hairdryers, coffee makers, 2-line speaker phones, and cable TV in every guest room. Our room had High-Speed Internet Access.
