I live in Key West and have been visiting Florida City for years while my kids participate in sporting events or weekend shopping trips. Over the years we have stayed at every Hotel - Motel in the area and were never really pleased with any of them. Many of them were way over priced and very low quality making us dread these trips. For whatever reason, I think was its location because it is kind of tucked away, we had missed the Travelodge and decided to give it a try. Well we nolonger hesitate going on these trips. As a matter of fact we go even more now, averaging at least 1 trip a month, and its the Travelodge that has made the difference. This place is very well operated, the rooms are very clean, very comfortable and accomodating. The property itself is immaculately maintaned, brightly lit at night for your safety and security and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They also offer a great breakfast included with your room. And lastly its very affordable. So if you're planning a trip to South Florida, Florida City for fishing, racing, stopping over or simply to relax make the Flroida City Travelodge your first call. Its simply the best place to stay in the area.
Stayed here mid-December for 2 nights whilst visiting the Everglades. It is about 20 minutes drive to the park entrance. Ok for us, but not exceptional – it is after all a Travel Lodge, and there does not seem to be much of a different standard in Florida City. The significant plus was the included breakfast – continental-style, but a wider choice than many other Travel Lodges and plenty to eat. Clean, functional and more than adequate if you don’t need to stay there for several hours during the day
We stayed here for one night in Jan 2007. We stayed in room 102 (King size - Non smoking). Its a motel style with your door opening out on the parking lot. The room was spacious, with a huge double bed, table and chairs & good shower. The room included Fridge/freezer, microwave, large tv with cable channels, coffee maker, free wireless and a safe. A continental breakfast is served in the cafe area next to reception, we had toast, pastries, fruit and coffee. The hotel in situated behind a petrol station and Macdonalds on the US1, but seemed fairly quiet. A good value hotel, conveinent for the Everglades.
The room, the grounds, the dining area, and everything else was clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly. The free breakfast was very good. This is a very well managed property and the prices are very reasonable.
