More about Lime Tree Bay Resort Motel
We had planned a trip from Miami to Key West over a two week period. Upon arrival at the Lime Tree Bay Resort in Marathon/Long Key region we altered our itinerary to stay an extra four days. The site, quaint accommodations, and people were more than we had hoped for, especially for the price! We highly recommend them for accommodation. If you want pretentious, ***, and stuffy go to Duck Key (we only stayed there one night.) If you want the real Keys feel see the folks at Lime Tree.
Stayed at Lime Tree April 2004, 4 of us shacked up in a very basic room, the photo's on the web site look fab but dont let this fool you, the room was in need of a good decorating, the air con could do with a silencer on it, the bathroom is very small, the resort was ok but the pool and surrouding area is in need of improvement, there is a strange aroma at times and was told it is the sea weed, but, - there is a cafe around the corner, a supermarket along the road and thats it, if you want it quite then this is for you, but for me,well we are going back to the Keys but will give this resort a big miss.
Love the LimeTree
When we decide to take a trip I spend a conciderable amount of time searching the net for places to stay and things to do while we are there. I have made some really bad choices based on the descriptions and out dated photos. This was not the case for the LimeTree Bay Resort. We fell in love with the property as soon as we saw it. The rooms were clean and decorated in a way that really made you feel as if you were on holiday. The staff went out of there way to make us feel at home and were very helpful with all of our questions. We loved the resort so much we decided to host our wedding there. The resort was under some construction but they stopped for the six days that we were there! The pool and jacuzzi are great to relax in. And you can't beat the view for sunset We would highly recommend the LimeTree Bay Resort to anyone thinking about staying in the Keys. We have no doubt that it is the only place we will stay in the Keys!!
My husband and I stayed in a standard room, and were not expecting a four star hotel, but we were expecting a clean room. Housekeeping is just a formality. Room was unclean and unkept. Mattress was sunken, blinds on window broken, no chair in room, faucet in bathroom broken as were all the knobs on the little desk in room. The pictures on the internet for a standard room are deceiving. Generally not a nice room. It appears if you want a nice room you need to stay in the expensive rooms. The grounds and swimming pool area were nice. The beach is really sand that was dumped on a grassy area. There is no swimming beach here.
We won't be back!
After reading some of the other reviews we went with mixed feelings but these were dashed on arrival, room was more than adequate considering the amount of time you actually spend in it, clean and spacious. The resort itself was undergoing some renovation work but still a perfect setting, pool and hot-tub area clean and fresh feeling, beach area not real sand but real enough to wriggle your toes in, and just try lying back with a loved one and a bottle of wine between you watching the stars. IDYLIC.
We had the best time ever. We got married at the lime tree in Nov of 2004. My family and friends stayed at the resort aswell. Great people thier and Mom(the owner) is great. We had our ceremony thier and at first when we we saw the gazbo were we was to get married at, I got scared. It is half finish. We found out that due to building regalation, they could not complete it. So, we got tons of decos and it turn out to be the best looking wedding ceremony I had ever seen. The people are really great and help with everything we needed. You must see this place. Very nice
We stayed 3 nights in Dec 2004. They were upgrading the rooms and groun
We arrived in Dec for thee days. it was cold 45 at night 60 days. The resort was exactly like the website. No sand beach but great sand areas around the rock sea walls. Not many folks Dec 13-16 2004' but we had great time. The Italian cafe next door was good. The canoe trip at Long Key State Park was wonderful even for out of shape 58y/o. The park is 1 mile from the resort and costs $10 for canoe for the day. The best deal on the Keys. We thought about renting a outboard boat but found there was other things to do. Linda doubted the lord and masters' navigating skills. The Ghost Walk at 430 Duval St in Key West was if you have a sick sence of humor wonderful 8and 9PM only. Parking is a problem so rent a car you can park if you are drunk. City lots are $10/day. Be ready to walkand walk. Back to the resort. The water pressure was low so showers were long. The sunsets were great from the raised deck around the hot tub. The management was friendly and helpful. For the money this place was great.
If you like the old style resort than the lime tree is for you. If you are looking for very modern style resort like hawks cay then you should not go to lime tree. My wife and i stayed for 7 days there and loved every minute of it.
good little spot
We just returned from five nights @ lime tree bay in late feb. We were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The new mini suites w/ king bed are the way to go, by far the nicest hotel rooms we had ever stayed in!!! Bamboo flooring, flat screen mounted on the wall, faux wood blinds etc... Sunsets were beautiful!! No beach to speak of, but there are beach like areas w/ very comfortable chairs and bed like lounges to chill on. Cool tiki huts to relax under and read or enjoy a cool drink. Italian restaurant (not part of resort) next door was o.k. Needs remodeling and could be a bit cleaner but food was good and prices were great. Overall lime tree is a good place to stay and if we are ever in the keys again, we would stay again.
lazing at the Lime Tree
This property has a website that makes it look like a big fancy resort. The Lime Tree Bay is a small family run casual property, right off Hwy. 1.
You can see the highway from the property. The room we stayed in was very nice and very clean. It was a standard motel room. There was a fridge and coffeemaker which helps at breakfast. We sat out under the stars next to the water. They offer lots of seating areas with hammocks
chairs, tables etc. The pool was clean and nicely elevated over the water's edge. This is a small casual place, do not let the word " resort" mislead you.
It is a great location for traveling to other parts of the Keys on daytrips.
Just don't expect lots of lawns or fancy gardens and you will be fine.
It is just a casual motel with friendly staff and resident cats to keep you company. We would go back.
